Yes, we are having a Deacon say the ceremony and they don't get paid to be there. Also tipping the organist, singer and alter boys/girls

We didn't tip. My deacon informed us that there is no tippiing for a sacrament. We tipped the altar servers but that was it.

The way the deacon explained it 'would you tip for a baptism or last rites?' You don't tip any member of the Catholic clergy .

Priests aren't supposed to accept tips.

I don't think I am. They say to tip the alter servers too.

I don't think you are supposed to tip priests. Organists and altar servers should get tips.

We did not tip the priest. We did tip the alter boys

I've known my priest forever so we bought him a gift. Just something small to say thank you as they're not supposed to accept cash tips!

my great uncle is marrying us so we're probably just going to get him a gift. But the church just asked that we tip the alter boys.

I'm getting my priest a gift...like a stole or something...but we're very close, not because I feel like I have to.

And in my experience, all the priests I know who get a 'tip' just put it in the poor box or the church collection.

Maybe some of you don't feel that way, but the priest who is marrying us is important to me and important to the wedding, so that's why I'd doing it. Hell, if the guys who parks my guests' cars are going to get a tip at the end of the night, then I'd rather the person who officiated at the wedding to receive something, just as a recognition and special thank you of being a part of our day.

And as a former altar server, yes, the servers are going to be getting a nice tip!

We got a tipping sheet, and the priest wasn't on it. It didn't even occur to me to give him a gift!

How do you even go about tippin the altar boys?

Re: question- catholic church girls

on our fee sheet they said anywhere from 10-20 for the altar boys. i am going to have the best men give the altar boys the tip before the ceremony since they leave right after...

ok i just wanted to get some reassurance on not tipping the priest because in my documents it says:

'If you wish to offer a gift to the altar servers, sacristan or to the priest or deacon who performs your wedding, please do so personally on the day of the wedding. If you are giving a gift to the altar servers, it is generally best to do this prior to the ceremony, since they usually leave immediately after the ceremony.'

..so thats why i was inquiring! thanks girls.
