question for anyone living with their FH / DH

So my BIL just posted on his facebook:

'I Hope Amy (his wife) feels better so I don't have to sleep on the couch anymore. Feel better honey!'

This confuses me .... when you or your DH are sick, does the other person sleep on the sofa?

DH and I sleep in the same bed regardless of our health

ETA: he just deleted it and re-wrote it without the part about the sofa ... i guess someone else pointed out that it was a bit weird

sometimes I will sleep on the couch because when I am sick most of the medicine keeps me up and I restless so I don't want to wake him up.

my DH was sick 2 weeks ago and we both slept in the bed.

When i had bronchitis Shaun slept on the couch... mainly because i would wake up and cough up a lung... and i would wake him up...

Nope, we've never slept separate just because of being sick.

Yep - I'll go to the couch if I'm having a problem sleeping or sick - I wouldn't post in on FB though - LOL

Yeah, but he wrote that *he* sleeps on the sofa when *she* is sick .... and it sounded like it's because he's not ALLOWED in bed

(they're a very weird couple so i really wouldn't be too surprised lol)

Yes, when one of us is sick the healthy one sleeps on the couch...that way we are both getting a more restful and restorative sleep.

thats what i would do. i wouldnt wanna keep him up all night if i was up sick. plus on the couch i can put the tv on then!

we never sleep apart. even if we are in a fight. I was just sick last week and the only thing DH wouldnt cuddle me
we even slept in the same bed when I had the swine flu LOL (he didnt get it)

ETA: neither me or DH would ever post on FB anything personal like that, its beyond TMI

If I'm really sick (Stomach flu, respiratory issues, anything contagious) I'll sleep in the guest room so he doesn't catch anything or visca versa. When we were in the apartment though I don't think anyone slept on the couch. I don't think we would advertise that on FB though...

DH always threatens to sleep on the couch when I'm sick because I always have a lingering cough that lasts for like 3 weeks (like right now - I'm on day 13 of coughing lol) but he never actually does. We always sleep together, despite our health. We just won't kiss each other on the lips - we'll kiss on the cheek.

Depends how sick.

DH (<--- ) has had really bad pneumonia and I have really bad flu (including what we're pretty sure was the swing flu last year... i don't have insurance so who the hell knows) and when there's puking/really bad coughing and/or any instance of coughing up nastiness... one of us shifts to the couch.

It's usually him because he could sleep standing up so where sleeps doesn't really bother him.

I don't see a problem with saying this on facebook? I dont think it's weird.

I DO think it's weird that some of you would sleep next your FH/DH or let him sleep next to you when one of you is likely to cough up a green mess of goober on the other...

I have been sleeping on the couch a few nights just bc I was coughing soooo much and it was keeping DH awake. He has to be up pretty early for his loooong days at work, so, I figured it didn't make any sense to keep him awake... Once he was asleep (if I wasn't yet), I would go back upstairs to bed....

AND when he had the swine flu last year (right around this week), I slept on the couch. I had a busy week and he was sweating through EVERYTHING... grossssss... not catching that....

so, other than the cough and the swine flu, no....

oh, and I did actually put it on fb now that I think of it. something along the lines of 'on the couch again... don't want to keep waking Hubby up when he has to go to work so early!!'
