Question for Catholic Brides-UPDATED-WE MADE A DECISION!

Are you having a full mass or just the ceremony?

And why did you make that choice?

FH and I were raised Catholic, though we did not receive our sacraments (I was baptised when I was a baby, he wasn't) until we were older.

I have been trying to decide whether or not to have a full mass, as it is one of the sacraments.

FH is leaning towards just a ceremony b/c it'll be quicker. I am leaning towards the full mass b/c it is a sacrament, and it won't be THAT much longer.

We do not go to chuch as often as we'd both like (and should), but my schedule has recently permitted me more time to attend church and really look forward to getting more involved with the church.

Opinions please! Thanks!

I had all 3 sarcraments about 2 years ago. FH was only baptised when he was 4 and that's it.

For us both of our families are not religious, so we decided to just do the ceremony. Also his mother is Lutheran (but was Catholic) , my mother is Jewish.

In the last few years I've gone to church. The mass is longer and is just not for us.

i am catholic and i always wanted to have the full mass for the ceremony. but now since we chose a sunday wedding we might need to speed things up. i have not decided yet, but will let you know when the time gets closer.

We're having a full mass because it's very important to our families. I don't mind the length of the mass. This day only comes once in a lifetime, and if people want to skip that part, I'll see them at the reception!

We're doing a full mass b/c the priest that's doing it is the one that married my parents. So we felt he could make it personal and more meaningful. If we were just having a random priest from the church I don't know that we would have a full mass.

We are doing a full mass. We are getting married on a Sunday and felt it was the right thing to do. His parents are really religious so, this means a lot to them.

We had a full mass, in all honesty a full mass adds only 15-20 mins to the ceremony. If your gonna get married in the church, why not go all the way

We're just having a ceremony. Both of us went to catholic school all our lives, but we don't practice our religion now for a variety of reasons. I'd feel hypocritical receiving communion just because it's my wedding day - when I never receive it otherwise. Why get married in a church then? Good question - it's mostly to make our families not freak out.

I agree, in all honesty, I never thought NOT to have a full mass!

we never wanted a full mass until we went to weddings whre they had a full mass and loved them. For some reasons I feel its much more personal, ut that's just me.

I wanted a full mass, always thought it would be that way. We changed it to a ceremony since FI is not Catholic (he is Lutheran) and him and his family can't receive communion then. It seems awkward to me then. I didn't want to receive and not have him receive.

No mass, you know why. But if the situation were different, I would have gone for it.

We're having a full mass largely b/c it is important to our families. Also because we had a big time gap between our ceremony and cocktail hour so we wanted to burn sometime. Finally both of us have big families and a mass let's us get more of our families involved in our wedding.

we're having a full mass too. it's important to both our families and to fh too. plus it's not much longer, and i think it adds some grandeur to the occasion.

We are having a full mass. It is very important to both of our families. Plus FH and I go to church on a regular basis and just seems like the natural thing for us.

We are having a Sunday wedding and the church does not hold a full mass. Also, I was only baptized Catholic and did not want to make the other sacraments!

as of right now we are just doing a ceremony. FH would prefer to just have a ceremony while I'm back and forth on the whole thing. I would like to have a full mass, but then worry that i will be cutting it close on time.
