Question for FH...

I am having 3 girls and Rob is thinking about 5 guys. He has tones of friends but his MOM wants him to invite his 2 couusins from FL. Rob was in one of the cousins wedding party and to this day is stilll windering why but you know family. He is wonderinng does he have to return the favor and invite the cousin who invited him? His other cousin is reciently engaged and is wondering if he will be in the wedding party also. He asked me to ask you guys (because I live by the boards) what to do?
Thank you from myself and Rob
XOXO

There is no etiquette that says you have to have someone in your party b/c they had you. I think if he should ask who he feels he is the closest too and he feels the best about asking. Mind you he may have to defend this to his family - but I still feel that you should ask whoever you want. (I can see this being a different situation if it was a brother that he wanted to leave out - but a cousin is a different story)

Re: Question for FH...

I was MOH in a friends wedding and I didn't ask her to be in mine. She didn't get upset about it. I had 4 sisters (2 mine, 2 his) to include and 2 closer friends.

My mother wanted me to ask my cousin to be one of Al's groomsmen - so we'd have some of my family in his party, since I had his two sisters in mine. I though it was the most ridiculous thing ever. I wasn't close to this cousin and to ask him for that reason was absurd. It wasn't my family vs. his family, it was us coming together. And most of the friends he had in his party, I was close friends with too! OK, off than tangent.

Don't succumb to the pressure if he doesn't want to ask to cousin. How close are they?

There is no 'rule' that you have to reciprocate the bridal party duties, i.e., if you were in someone's party you do not have to have them in yours.
If he is comfortable with it and wants them in the party, he should ask them.
