Question for girls getting married in a Church with a time gap with the resecption..

Original post by bellaro782

I was just wondering .. what are the girls who are getting married in a church going to do with the gap in btw for your guest??

My mom is going to ask my side to come back to my house and have cookie trays set up.

Are there anything else you girls have planned??

Our reception was at a hotel so a lot of our guests were staying overnight. They went back and checked in, changed and hung out until the reception started. Others went home and changed.

Those who didn't live nearby or didn't get a hotel room, skipped the church and just came for the reception.

I'm going to have a friend go back to my apartment and open it up, so guests can stop by and have some snacks or just relax.

No, we are not doing anything. We have two types of guests: OOT and local. The local guests told me they will be going home inbetween and the OOT guests will check in to the hotel and relax inbetween. In the OOT bags, I am going to put a list of things they can do,but I am hoping they can all entertain themselves.

I didn't do anything for them! Some people came to the church in regular clothes and then went home to change in between

that's what i'm thinking a lot of local people will do!!! Even some people who are out on the island..there's enough time and they live close enough to go home for awhile.. if not my mom will probably invite some people back to the house for cookies and stuff... (don't want them eating too much.. they gotta eat what we're paying for..lmaoo)

We had some snacks and champagne at my parents' house for those close family members and bridal party--but everyone else went back to their hotel or home until reception.

I was so worried about this at first, but my mom keeps telling me I can't take care of everyone - it's not my problem! But many of our guests are out of town, so hopefully they'll just check into their rooms and relax for a bit. The locals will probably just go home or to someone else's house.

So many weddings have a large gap - people usually find a way to keep busy.

Well, I'm going to check with the hotel to see how much a hospitality suite will cost. But also, we're going back to my inlaws to take pics b/c they have a beautiful water view. I'm just afraid everyone will come back to her house and the picture session will be chaotic. We're only staying there an hour or so and then going to the RH to take pics on their grounds, so I guess the guests would continue to hang out at my FILs.

We are lucky b/c we really do not have many OOT guests, so it is to each his own between the church and actual party.... most people will just go home and change or if they go to the church dressed, they might make plans w/ other family member or friends and go get coffee or all go to one persons house. I wouldn't stress this if I were you... everything will be fine and no one will really mind the gap between church and dinner.

Our gap isn't that long and JT offers a room for guests that are early with refreshments. Check with your hall to see what they say.

I'm not doing anything for them. Most are local so they'll go back home in between to get ready for the reception. Everyone else will probably head straight over to the hall (it may take a while to get there with traffic on a Friday night), they are having a strawberry & champagne greeting for them there.

I have a 5 hour gap ... my guest are going back to their house or they are just coming to the reception.

I have a huge gap in btwn because I want to go to a bunch of different places to take pictures. Fortunately I'm getting married at a hotel so most of my friends can go back to their room and relax in btwn... as for my family, they will probably go to the hotel and hang out... not really too sure, but definitely not something I am going to stress over!
