Question for Moms about your car

Original post by CathyB

Our lease will be up later this year, so we are starting to think about what we want to get next. We plan to start trying to have children before the lease on the new car is up, so we are looking for something that will be safe for a baby. We are debating the merits of a sedan versus a SUV.

Do you have a sedan or SUV? Why did you choose that? Any regrets?

Thanks for any input. We really appreciate it.

Re: Question for Moms about your car

I have a Mazda MPV (minivan) and LOVE IT.
(automatic doors are the best feature EVER invented! I would have NEVER told DH to get that feature, but he went all out, and Ive thanked my lucky stars ever since!)

From what I researched, minivans have better safety ratings than SUVs. It just seems to be a trend for moms to get SUVs since they DO look so much cooler
I'll drive johns when he gets one

Thanks for your input. Gives me a lot to think about. I prefer sedans, SUVs and minivans seem so big to me. But I never realized how much room you need for one or two very little people!

Re: Question for Moms about your car

I have a 2003 Ford Taurus. We couldn't afford a SUV or van, since I quit my job. I also think they are too big for our needs. Our car is very roomy, the trunk is big, leather seats, and seats 5. I'm really happy with it, I guess if we have more than 2 kids, we'll need something bigger.
