Question for my 2010 Girls

Question for my 2010 Girls

Please be honest. Like dead serious honest.

I am getting a lot of flak from friends about ordering an ivory dress for my wedding. I am a first time bride, but I am WICKED pale... and due to skin issues I can't tan (fake or natural) so that's out...

Is it so bad to be wearing an ivory dress? I feel like white is going to wash me out totally... I thought that whole white on the wedding day was old-fashioned, but I'm still hearing about it.

I think you are smart about doing ivory and not white. :)

have you though about spray tanning or the lotions...not fake and bake?

not bad at all, you should order the color dress that you are most comfortable in, whether white or ivory, don't worry about what your friends are saying, its your dress, not theirs

i just ordered my gown today in ivory even though my mom thinks it should be in white. I don't think people will even notice that it's not 'white' Besides, every designer has a different 'white.' As long as you like the dress in ivory, go for it.

When I went looking for dresses I was drawn to every color except white. When I tried the white on it just wasn't my color. I'm not planning on getting white.
Its your dress not theirs let them wear white to their own weddings.

its your wedding and you should pick whatever you feel like is going to make you look amazing on your wedding day.

Re: Question for my 2010 Girls

I'm doing the same - I'm super pale (um, people at work call me 'Powder', remember that movie? LOL!) and my coloring and freckles would make me look stupid if I tanned. I'm Irish. It took me years to embrace my skin color and it wasn't until I got a tattoo years ago and the artist made a comment about how my skin is PERFECT for ink that I finally felt okay in it - ironic that I felt better being in my own skin when someone else was coloring it in.

But ANYWAY (I digress a lot!) - like I said, I'm going with ivory because white would just look weird on me. My aunt just pulled out her wedding photos the other day and she wore white - she's even paler than me (believe it!) and it didn't look right.

Nowadays you can wear whatever color you want - purple, pink, blue, anything. It's your day!

And hellooooooo - so many dresses are offered in ivory and off-white...there's got to be a reason for it. Supply is always dictated by demand!

honestly....... i loooooove ivory dresses!!!!!!! i think it makes most dresses look more elegant (if you cant tel my dress is ivory lol), also stark white is not at all flattering for lighter skin tones

also, most people cant even tell a dress is ivory until you tell them and then they think its like yellowish color and start getting all freaked out (this is all from experience and from others whove had ivory dresses) when they see it though most people dont think twice that its not pure white

I'm wearing ivory. I feel that white washes me out as well. I see absolutely nothing wrong with wearing ivory on your wedding day, even if it's your first (and only) marriage. I think it's all personal taste.

I'm wearing ivory. The ivory of a few generations ago was very obviously ivory so people 'talked' that it wasn't white. The ivories today are basically in the white family. Also, a bridal salon I went to told me that most dresses in the stores are ivory or diamond white, and they 'look' white! If someone asked me, I'd say the dress was white!

Wooooow I don't like your friends haha. I am pale too and I don't want to know what they'd have to say about me because my dress is light gold/champagne.

When they see the dress and they see how beautiful you look in it, they'll eat their words

Absolutely do not think there is anything wrong with ivory. Some dresses look better in ivory actually, so you are very smart.

Don't worry about what other people have to say, if you like the way you look in the dress then that is all that matters. I think it's a great idea to wear ivory instead of white.
