I am getting a lot of flak from friends about ordering an ivory dress for my wedding. I am a first time bride, but I am WICKED pale... and due to skin issues I can't tan (fake or natural) so that's out...
Is it so bad to be wearing an ivory dress? I feel like white is going to wash me out totally... I thought that whole white on the wedding day was old-fashioned, but I'm still hearing about it.

I am going to order ivory. I honestly do not think anyone can tell the differnce between the white and the ivory unless they hold them next to each other ... it is better to do what you feel good in. And the women and the bridal shop told me almost all the brides she works with order ivory.
Mine is ivory - I still have no idea why people say this - if it was such a bad idea they wouldn't make ivory dresses...

ivory dresses are beautiful! mine is ivory too hehehe. i say get whatever dress u want and be happy with it. no matter what u do, u're not gonna be able to make everyone happy. just make urself happy. after all it is ur day!

I dont think its bad at all. I tried on ivory and dresses, and i couldnt really tell the difference. i doubt your guests will. Ivory is white...just alittle off (lol that might have made no sense). It doesnt matter.

it is very common to order ivory for exactly what you said, skin tone. do not feel like you shouldnt be ordering it. no one at your wedding should be wearing white anyway so your ivory dress is going to look white anyway!

No matter what color the dress is (white, diamond white, off white, ivory, taupe, red, blue, green...) it's still a wedding dress!! If you feel comfortable in ivory and it suits your skin tone, go for it!! It's your day, your the one wearing the dress, dont let friends try to make you feel bad about something like this!! No matter what color the dress is, your still going to be a beautiful bride in a beautiful dress...Dont let them get you down!!

Ok Joanne, you've met me and you know I'm really pale as well. Like you, white just didn't look that great on me. Therefore, I ordered my dress in ivory and it looks gorgeous. There is nothing wrong with ordering a different shade of white...its not like your ordering hot pink or something. Your the bride and you should order what looks best on you....either way I'm sure you will make a beautiful bride!

I agree !! I have seen alot of brides wear ivory because they disappear in white. My sister is really pale and she is having an ivory dress, you cant even tell its ivory. Do what you feel looks best on you.

I just went dress shopping for the first time last night. I tried on white and diamond white (which is offwhite/ivory). I cannot carry the white - so I'll be getting the offwhite/ivory. I think you need to get what looks best on you!!!!!!!!!!!!

im wearing ivory too-i tan in the summer, but im very very pale naturally, and white looks horrible on me..ivory looks so so much better

Ignore them its your wedding wear what ever color you want ! If white does not look good on you don't wear it, Ivory makes you more comfortable then you should wear an Ivory dress

My dress is Ivory and I love it.......I think you should get whatever color dress you feel will look better on you. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks.

like someone said, you cant even tell ivory usually unless its put up against white. get whatever you want, its not like you are getting like purple or red (no offense to anyone who is... God you gotta be careful, lol), its ivory!!

Take it from someone who has always been concerned about what other people think or say..do what you want. If you like Ivory the best I say go for it.

with pale skin its actually better to go with Ivory, and some shades are so pale that they look white until you stand next to something that is true white.
I have an ivory dress as well, I blend in with a white dress, and I want to avoid that, so I dont see why it is a concern. Its what looks best on you and makes you feel the best.
