I am getting a lot of flak from friends about ordering an ivory dress for my wedding. I am a first time bride, but I am WICKED pale... and due to skin issues I can't tan (fake or natural) so that's out...
Is it so bad to be wearing an ivory dress? I feel like white is going to wash me out totally... I thought that whole white on the wedding day was old-fashioned, but I'm still hearing about it.

You should order the dress in the color you feel comfortable in! I want white because I am hoping to have a nice natural tan since I am getting married the end of July. . . . but who know what going to happen if the weather is like this next year!

I don't see anything wrong with ivory and can't believe they even brought it up as an issue! Wearing ivory is not something 'regrettable', say like Sarah Jessica Parker wearing black and regretting it.
Just think about it, will you ever look back and say, 'Darn, I wish I would've worn white instead of ivory?'..Chances are you won't, so do whatever you feel comfortable in and suits you

It's funny because I went to Kleinfelds to look for a dress and I said I wanted to a white dress. However, really nice fabric does not come in a complete white color (this is what they told me). She said only cheaper fabric can be made pure white. The white they have is more of an ivory color, even if you watch the episodes on TV, you can see that they are not completely white.
Go with what YOU like, it's YOUR wedding.

I thought I was going to buy a white dress but I am also very pale and the ivory dress compliments me much better...So far no one has made a comment against me wearing an ivory dress...I really dont think its a big deal.

I was told by the bridal consultant in Macy's that ivory is the most popular color. I am (most likely) wearing an Ivory/light gold dress.

i think you're making a smart choice. I have an ivory dress as well b/c the white made me look ghostly. Its your dress...if you wanted it to be bubblegum pink it still shouldnt matter-its your dress!

Just a quick note to my fair skinned friends: I am super pale as well, but I love my skin color! I HATE when people say, 'You need a tan.' Why? I like the way I look. AND I am wearing white for my wedding. Take a look at my STD and my gown picture. I am wearing white in both and I think I look pretty good. That being said, where what you feel comfortable in. There is no right or wrong.

I'm wearing an ivory dress! I was going for a very antique look, and found what I was looking for. I never wanted white from the beginning. You're reasons are totally valid. It probably would wash you out. Don't let ppl's opinions get to you. Tell them to shut-up and that you're happy with your decision!

ivory is sometimes prettier then white. i think it is fine u r going to wear and ivory dress. its ur wedding u do what u want to do, and dont listen to what others say. u will look beautiful in ivory.

I agree with everyone else... wearing ivory if perfectly fine! My dress is ivory as well and honestly, I had no clue it was ivory until the girl told me. There are so many shades of 'white' and ivory is just one of them.
