Question for Newlyweds that lived at home...

and not lived on their own......

Was it a hard time for you to move out of your house? I think I'm going to have issues.....every time I think about it I just get so sad. Whether it's doing laundry in my basement, or hanging out in my room or just laying around, I just stop and think for a few moments and say Wow, this is the last time on this date I will ever do this here again.

And MY Dog......OMG forget it......I can start crying right now just thinking I cannot cuddle with him as much as I do now that I live here--He is so much like a person to me....

All I want to know.....is how did you do it? What makes it easier? How long does it get easier?

I've never lived on my own before and I will be only ten minutes away for now, but I know I'm going to have a rough time ahead of me to get accustomed to the entire 'living arrangement' once I'm married and basically Yes, I need to grow up, but its freakin hard.....

I feel the same way. I cannot wait to live with FH but I get so sad. Its all about change, I hate change. But I try to think that was one part of my life and one new part is about to happen. I will be very sad to leave but just think you will have FH by your side to come home to and thats so exciting!!!

For me, I loved moving out! I was nurtured at home like a baby, and it was time for me to grow up! I loved the independence and being on my own, making my own decisions... being in MY living room, in MY kitchen.. though be it half the size of my parents.

You will like all the things that come with having YOUR place. I think that is what will make everything else easier.

The doggie, is a different story. It would be hard to move out having a doggie! I have a dog now, and can't immagine leaving him! He is my baby. Mayber your parents would let you take the dog with him.

LOL--My dad would NEVER let me take the dog---LMAO---thats how much this dog is loved....noone wants to part w/ him.

Im hoping one day FH will let me, he keeps telling me that we'll never get one b/c of hair and b/c he will be the one walking it, and training it (which is probably true b/c he loves dogs also)---but he knows hes the one that will take responsiblity and not me(which is prob true as well)---but maybe he'll surprise me one year and bring one home :)

As far as having 'our own' home and decorationg with our own tastes will make it worth every crying moment I may have from now until that point. LOL

Aww Dre, I know how you feel! It's soooo sad to leave home! Last night I packed up a huge suitcase and a huge garment bag with tons of clothes and brought them over to the new home. I got in the car and said to FH 'This is so sad' and he says 'why?' ... UGHHH, I wanted to punch him! Men have no clue!

I don't know what I am going to do after next week - my mother is a disaster already! She's so sad!

actually i decided to move out of my parents and into my own apartment before getting married. i thought it was important to live on my own before moving in with my SO. My lease is up in one month at which time we will move into our condo together. i am happy to have had some 'me' time. i know it's not necessary to all gals to live alone, but it was essential to me. i now feel ready to move on (and in) with my SO.

It was really hard for me. The only time I was away from home was college. Luckily I am fortunate in that we moved only 5 minutes away and can stop by my parents anytime.

The emotions really are two-fold. First, I am sad I am not doing my normal routine that I did for the past 27 years. But it is so great to come home to DH and I truly feel like a grown-up. It is so much fun to have dinner together and watch TV together. I love it! So its a half and half for me. Certain things I miss and when I stop to think about it - then I am upset. But I love being a wife!! And you will too. It just takes time.

I know exactly how everyone feels...I can't wait to move out & live with FH & have our own home, but at the same time it is going to be one of the saddest times for me...My mom is like my best friend & we do everything together especially when FH has to work late...I have another issue that looms on me though. After FH & I get married, my parents will be moving out of state & 400 miles away. My dad is already retired & my mom will be retiring from teaching in June 2006...That is going to be the hardest for me considering I can't just get in the car & be at my mom's in 5 minutes

I was one that lived at home until I got married. I won't lie, it was hard to make the adjustment. The night that we spent at our apartment before leaving for our honeymoon, I was crying. It was very hard to leave my parents house and go to my new home.

After a couple weeks though, you get into a new routine, and I absolutely love coming home to my DH. My mom has a family dinner most Monday nights, so we go over for that, plus I can see them whenever I want since I'm only a couple miles away.

You're right, Men do not have a clue. He is also NOT a momma's boy, otherwise, he'd probably understand More. LOL

I can just imagine what your mom is like, poor thing.....Jeez! My mom will be a disaster too and I know pops too---its gonna be rough. I dont care what FH says, I am sooo going over there at lest 2 x a week for dinner. At least in the beginning I will anyway.....!

See ya in a Week Baby!!!

Dinner a few times a week, especially in the beginning is a good idea .... Saturday shopping trips with mom too will also be on my agenda ... little things to keep us all happy.

It took time for me to adjust as well. I think it took my DH time as well. I will never forget the final day I left my parents house, I looked at my brother and said ' I'll see ya! ' I went in my car drove off balling. It was sad and took me a few weeks to adjust on my own. After awhile you feel like you've been on your own for the longest time. I'm sure you will visit your family alot too.

I haven't moved out yet and probably won't until after we're married because we haven't found a place yet. I CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE OUT AND NEVER LOOK BACK
