Question re: CH start time - opinions please - LONG!!!

Here goes - let's see if I can make sense....
We're getting married in Bay Shore, having our reception in Sayville... What time should we do what?
4:30p Mass, 7p CH?
The situation is this: we have a lot of guests coming from Nassau County and
a) we don't want to have too much time b/w ceremony and CH - what would the guests do? I guess I have to talk to my RH about them getting there early...
b) we don't want to miss our CH b/c of pictures (and taking pics before the mass is not an option)....
You think 4:30 is too early? Figure 1-1.5 hr for mass (receiving line time included),and 30 mins drive time from church to RH.... so guests would arrive around 615ish.... too much idle time?
i was having the same ish.. our church is at 3 or 3:30 (we have to decide) and then our reception is at 7:30.. but i wanted to change it to 6.. because i dont want too much time in between.. fh is worried that we will be rushed.. so were in the air as well.. oyyy
My ceremony as of now starts at 3:30 and ch starts at 7:30. But when I spoke to a photographer he told me that with traveling time from church to location to take pictures and then to the reception plus taking all the damn pics, that's not enough time. So I was told I should move my ceremony to 2:30. I know it ***** but I don't know how else to do this right now. Plus JT has a lounge area downstairs for guests who arrive early and they are served some food and drinks
that's the time I wanted to end mine. But instead we're ending it at 1:30am. Cocktail hour starts at 7:30 so everyone was like 6 hours is enough lol. I added an hour plus VH
All I know is cocktail hour begins at 7 so people can enjoy the views.. but there is also a wedding before me until 630 so I am debating pushing my wedding back to 730;... i need to see where the sun with be this march at that time
so Jenn u booked at lands end then? thats awesome!! well my ceremony is 3- 3:30 reception is at 6:30pm. either way you will have some sort of gap. i have guests coming from nassau/queens they are going to the church then going to FH'S sisters house in between b/c she lives 2 blocks away from VYC! most people will either go home or to the hotel , relax then head out to the hall
well i dont know if this helps BUT my mass is at 2:30pm and my CH starts at 7:30pm - that's FIVE hours! BUT JT has a lounge where early guests can eat light foods and drink until we arrive. I want to be able to be COMPLETELY done with pictures, i dont want to miss a second of my CH! I am also going from Howard Beach to Mineola so I wanted PLENTY of time to get there ( in case of snow, lol)
I figure that the people coming to the church will probably live in the area ( my whole family, all our friends really) and any other family could get ready at another family member's house in between
honestly, i have been to weddings with big gaps in btw. and we figured out what to do with ourselves so as long as the OOT guests are taken care of i really dont care. . . . lol is that mean?
Ditto!
My cereomony is from 2 - 3pm. Cocktail 7-8pm Reception 8 - Midnight
Initially I was thinking of having a 2pm ceremony. However, I knew I'd be rushed. We then decided to have it at 2pm. We anticipate arriving at RH at 6pm for pics. If guests arrive earlier than 7pm, they have that lounge area. I have also heard that a lot of times the CH hour opens 15 minutes earlier. I'm OK with this. It's our only day. I think I owuld be highly dissapointed if we wren't able to take the pics we want.
