I'm having surgery on friday where my jaw will be wired for 6 to 8 weeks. Does anyone know if birth control pills can be crushed and mixed with juice or do you have to swallow it whole? I'm not allowed to swallow them. I don't know what to do b/c I don't want my period getting messed up b/c it is timed perfect not to get it for the honeymoon.
Yikes! Good luck w/your surgery! The pill is tiny, so maybe you can cut it into pieces (4) and drink it?

Thank you...........But won't that mess up my cycle this month if I start the patch? I still have a few more pills to take for this month.

I think I read an article in Cosmo saying that the pill can actually be inserted up your you know where...It was in answer to a question about what to do when you have the stomach flu...Ask your gyno though--good luck!
I would definately consult your doctor. I had surgery a few years ago (mind you it was major surgery so your situation may be different) but I was told that you should not take the pill around that time becasue of the possibility of developing blood clots. It may not be applicable in your case but I just thought I throw that out there. Good Luck!
I don't think it would be a problem. Pills that are time released and enteric coated are not supposed to ever be crushed. I do not believe the pill is time released and I a positive it isn't enteric coated. I would call your pharmacy and ask them.

I know this sounds gross, but my FI's sister is a paramdeic adn she is going to school for nursing. She told me that you can put the pill in that 'not so fresh area'...where you would normally put a tampon. I dont know how true it is, but I would ask you doctor.
I wish I could get my jaw wired!!! Seriously though - check with your doctor. You may even want to try 'the patch'
