Question Time!! Lets talk gowns

So how would you feel if another bride has the same gown as you? I personally don't care but I'm trying to start a convo here people. And all this talk about gowns really opens up the question...

Like, what do you do if you go to the bridal salon to try on your dress and you see another girl in your dress? Would it upset you?


I don't think it would matter to me. What about you?

i mean if i dont know the girl i wouldnt care....another bride on liw might get the same dress as me but thats totally fine! we'd be dress twins


but on the other hand...if it was someone i know and/or people at the weddings will see us both i would def NOT be happy

My whole goal was to find something different and when i was trying on gowns, even though I loved a few of them, what turned me off was that a million and one girls had the same gown!

I guess if i was CERTAIN that my dress was different enough and then I saw someone else wearing it, I might be ok. If I was wishy washy about my gown, then I'd be a little pissed.

I have NO gown yet, so this remains to be seen!

it wouldnt bother me either... i had the same thought as you did as well!

I know of a bride who has the same dress as me! She was married last year and I couldn't care less. Now if my friend who is getting married 3 mos. after me had the same dress, I might be a little annoyed. It'd be even worse if the girl who is getting married 3 weeks BEFORE me had the same dress. Other than that, it's fair game. I'd just compliment their magnificent taste.

its funny you should bring this up because it happened to me but the other way around!

I was trying on my dress and when i came out everyone was saying how beautiful it looked on me and it was perfect! i was on the pedestal and everyone was staring......but i cold see a girl in the corner and she had this mean look and was like 'there it is mom! thats my dress!'....it was kinda awkward but oh well!

but to answer your question, it wouldn't bother me.... i won't be seeing that bride on my wedding so its all good

I wouldn't care at all if I didn't know the person. If I did know the person, it would bother me a little....if the wedding was before mine, it would bother me A LOT!

I couldn't agree more!

I don't care. It would actually make it easier b/c I can see what everyone else will see. At least for me, it's really hard to get the whole picture when i'm in the dress.
(I had my twin try on my wedding dress when I was deciding between two)

I wouldn't care...but then again I won't be in this situation because I bought a discontinued sample dress so that might be coloring my response

It wouldn't bother me in the least. I guess because when all is said and done, gowns are, for the most part, mass-produced and the only way to avoid having any other bride wear the same gown is to either buy vintage or have one custom-made.

i didnt know you were a twin?!?!!!!! are you identical twins?

Lol, I actually did go back to my bridal store and saw another woman in my gown. It was cool to see it on a different body type and it looked great on her.

However, the last wedding I went to in June, the bride and I thought we had the same dress. I had been out with her a month or so before her wedding and we were talking about dresses. What she described sounded a lot like mines and she got it from the same store. When I pulled my phone out to show pics, she said she couldn't tell but she thought it was the same. I was so nervous that we would have the same dress becuase we would share a lot of the same guests between our weddings. The day of her wedding, I couldn't wait to get to the church to see her, lol. Turns out we didn't have the same dress and I was ecstatic!! Funny thing is, during the ceremony FH turns to me a goes, what a beautiful dress.

Exactly how I feel! I actually have a dress twin on here and really excited about it
