Questions re: Proofs for the Already Married Brides
In addition to the proofs, we received a CD from our photographer, but the proofs were low resolution. I don't know if it's normal to receive the low resolution proofs, but I guess it makes sense since we're essentially forced to go back to him and pay $$ if we want additional copies. I wanted to make small photo albums for FIL and MIL, but really can't use the proofs on the CD b/c the quality is bad.
My parents have a scanner-probably one that came with their computer. I was thinking of scanning some of the proofs and uploading them onto some photo gallery website. Has anyone done this? What was the quality of the scanned proofs vs. original proofs? I'm worried about the quality b/c I'm sure it's a cheap scanner. Has anyone made photo albums themself? What program/photo website did you use? Which one do you recommend? TIA.

Were the CD negatives part of the price of your package? It seems odd to me that they would give you the CD negatives in such a low resolution that you could not reprint them. That seems to defeat the purpose of even getting them. My photographer gave me the option of CD negatives for an additional cost so that we wouldn't have to pay them for duplicates and so that they wouldn't necessarily lose money by us not using them for reprints. The CD negatives we received were in the same resolution as they were taken, meaning they could all be enlarged to 20 x 30 and still retain their quality. I would check your contract to see if it says anything about the type of negatives you were to receive and ask them to provide copies that are sufficient resolution for you to reprint. If the CD negatives were just a throw in, then I guess you would have to scan them and upload them.
Good Luck!!

It was in my contract that I would get the proofs on a high res file upon picking up my album. I scanned some pics-I think my scanner doess1200 dpi (dots per image?) and they came out ok. You can definitely tell the difference. There are better scanners out ther though --you have to look at the DPI (Mine was under $100). I would check your contract and speak to your photographer.

Hi, I'm not married yet. But, when I was looking into photographers I was told by several that I could either get a low resolution cd included in the package or pay an additional amount (maybe $150-$250 can't remember the exact amount off the top of my head) and get a high resolution cd of my proofs. I would say talk to your photographer and see if you can purchase a higher resolution cd if it's not in your contract. Good luck!
