I have narrowed my catering hall search down to 6 venues through websites, and information gathered from friends and this website. I would like to see all six in person to make my ultimate decision. What I need some help/advice on now is, while I am looking at the venue, what are the questions I should make sure to ask? I don't want to look back afterwards and be like, shoot, i wish i asked this or that... Please list important questions here!

What is the final price after taxes etc? How much is the gratuity? Will you take cc payments? (Most won't, you have to pay them in cash or check and the final payment is a certified check). Is a signature drink included? What happens if you don't make your mininum? (A good idea is to give at least 20-25% less as your mininum. It's easier for you to add on guests than to pay for guests who don't come...) What exactly do I receive for this price (food at CH, # of bartenders and waitstaff etc)? Are bathroom baskets included or do I have to bring my own? What is the ratio of waitstaff to tables? (Best one is one per table, some RHs do one per 2 tables though).

Hmm I'm not that good at this but... -If you have DIY centerpieces, would they set them up? -Do they decorate cocktail hour tables at all? Would they throw anything in like votive candles? -What does open bar include? What do they consider top shelf liquor? -Are there any additional fees such as a maitre'd fee?
