Quick Trips - Please compare .. Mohonk Mt. vs. Gurney`s Inn

My fiance and I will be taking a short honeymoon, just a couple of days, right after the wedding. We`re considering either Mohonk Mt. or Gurney`s Inn, Montauk. Has anyone been to both places to offer comparisons. Mohonk Mt. looks breath-taking, and I`ve heard lots of good things about the place. I`d love for us to stay in a Tower Room, but they seem to go for over $600 a night! As for Gurney`s Inn, I can`t find a website for them, but I do remember getting mailings at home from them, and the place looked nice. But I don`t know much of anything about the place. These are the two options we`ve narrowed our trip down to. Problem is, if we do Mohonk, I want us to stay in the Tower Room. But I also would like for us to stay over more than one night without breaking the bank for the honeymoon we plan to take in November. Should we splurge on Mohonk, or would Gurney`s be equally as good? (I`m only guessing that the top-of-the-line room at Gurney`s is cheaper).

Mohonk

FYI- meals are included in your stay. Mohonk is beautiful, I live around 1/2 hour from there. My fiance and I will actually be staying there in October, it's a great time to see the foliage! I have been there before and seen a few rooms, they all seemed fine. Maybe you could talk them down on the price for the Tower room (will you be there in off season)? I know it's expensive there but in my opinion it will be well worth it because of the grounds and activities. Good luck and let me know if I can help any further. Continued success to all!

Mohonk

Mohonk is absolutely stunning. I have heard mixed reviews on Gurney's. I hear the spa and food are great but the hotel is not so hot. I've never been there myself, but I'm sure there are other hotels in Montauk you could check out...
