QUITTING SMOKING FOR THE WEDDING . . .

QUITTING SMOKING FOR THE WEDDING . . .

Soooo, I quit smoking Sunday night in preparation for the wedding (do NOT want to be seen smoking in that pretty ivory dress) - Plus, I have wanted to quit for a long time anyway . . .

As of now, it's been almost 3 days of no cigarettes, cold turkey, with one piece of emergency nicorette gum.

Has anyone else quit lately? We could offer mutual support & encouragement on this thread . . .

I quit for a while, but i fell off the wagon this weekend, and YES alcohol was involved. But as of yesterday I am back on the wagon! We can do it!

It hasn't been lately, but I celebrate my 1 year, 4 month anniversary being smoke free on October 11. It's been a tough road, and Lord knows I have been wanting a cig at times during all this planning, but I know I'm so much more healthier than ever. I just need to keep telling myself that! LOL

Good luck and you'll do great. It's the best decision you can make for yourself. FM me if you need any tips! I liked to drink a lot of water with squeezed lime in it, believe it or not, the lime helps curb the cravings.

I quit on Feb 14 of this year. It was really hard but I feel so good about it now.

I still struggle when I go out with my smoker friends. But I have not even touched a cigarette! Stick with it!

Good for you! I want to quit but I think I will wait until after the wedding. I think too much will stress me out & I will go right for a smoke! Good luck to you & Congrats on your big day!

I just listed a post under NWR

Today is my 15th day of not smoking (after smoking for 13 years) I am on wellbutrin and it has really helped with the cravings. I drank this weekend and REALLY wanted a smoke, but I did not have one

I quit two months ago and haven't relapsed. This was my second attempt and it was a LOT easier this time around.

It's really hard for me because I live with my FH and he's a smoker (we met when I bummed a cigarette off of him!). The key to my success has been not drinking and communicating with FH so he is a support and not a temptation.

I wish you the best of luck with your goal!

I'm not a smoker, and never have been, but FH is, and I told him, he WILL NOT, I repeat WILL NOT be around me on my wedding day smoking anything, and that goes for BM's, and anyone else in my wedding. So good luck to you guys b/c seeing FH try to stop looks very hard. He's tried to cut back, instead of cold turkey all at once. Maybe you guys should try that.
Good Luck
You guys can do it.

I highly recommend Werllbutrin. It totally stopped the cravings..

THANKS!!!!

You are all so supportive!!!

I have bottles and bottles of water surrounding me . . . This will probably be doubly good so that my skin looks good, soft/hydrated in time for the wedding too! I never drink enough water unless I actively remember to do it.

Yea!! Good for you, FH & I both try and fail I don't know why it's so hard...

They say if you don't smoke for 3 days it's out of your system, way to go

Any tips?

October 2 was five months for me!!!

I don't miss them much -- only sometimes when I smell the smoke. Other than that, I hardly think about it! I smoked for 20 years, too (started at 14).

I'm not a smoker, never have been, but FH is really addicted. Says he'll quit before the wedding.

Just wanted to offer you girls some support, it's great that you're doing this!!!!!!!! I'm so proud of all of you, yayeeeeeee!!!!!

Also, I've heard quitnet.com is supposed to be a great site for helping smokers quit. It calculates the $$ you're saving and stuff like that.

Re: QUITTING SMOKING FOR THE WEDDING . . .

I smoked for the wedding but I only had one 1/2 a cig the whole day... I just didnt need it. And I personally didnt want the extra stress, then I wanted to enjoy my HM but when I got back I quit cold turkey and it has been almost 3 months now.
It was pretty easy for me because I think I psyched myself into it or something.

The first 2 weeks were the worst and then the 1st night drinking and after that, it got easier and easier.

Good luck! You can do it!
