~~~~QUOTD THURSDAY 1/7/2010~~~
Original post by MerSaysEh
GOOOOOD MORNING!!
OK before I jet off to work, today's question....
:?
So many of us have trouble with FMIL? I'm wondering how FH handles this...does he even know? If so does he try to diffuse the situation? Does he take sides? Do you talk to him about it? Basically, what are FH's feelings on your issues (if you have any) with FMIL?
:?
My answer later when I have a lull at work....
In 7 years I have never even had a cross thought about FMIL.
She is more wonderful beyond words
We have never had a disagreement, fight, anything.
She lives in FL and I wish I saw her more often
I have the same exact situation with my FMIL! She is in Florida too and we only get to see her a few times a year. She's so much more easy to deal with than my mom!
My FMIL and I get along. It's neither here nor there with her.
considering he pretty much hates his own mother.... i sometimes defend her because he will start in on her when she hasnt done anything... its not that i dont like her... when shes sober shes a pretty nice person...
oyy...that sounds rough :( i'm sorry!
lol... you have no idea... he told her yesterday just being around her makes him angry... she doesnt even have to do anything.... i cant say i blame him... after all the things shes done to him and his brother... she actually stole our car once... she left his brother home @ 5 years old to go to the bar... he woke up and call us cause he didnt know where she was... its not just the alcohol anymore... shes got a ton of other mental issues
I no longer have issues with FMIL and that is thanks to FH. We work together and she would basically attack me at work with questions like 'Well, you're going to do this... right?' and 'You better not do that!'. I mean I was getting really upset, but I spoke to FH and he told her it's our wedding and we're paying for it so let us plan it the way we want. Finally, FMIL comprimised on a few things and we're both much happier for it!
I consider myself lucky as well. FMIL and I seem to get along great. She has always been very sweet to me!
My fmil and I get along great, but then again she doesn't speak much english so we don't have many conversations.
My FMIL moved to FL a few yrs ago. Thankfully she was harmless - to me, while she was here and now we don't see her, so it works.
If she did act up, FH would defend me. He's good like that. He also defuses the situation and changes the topic smoothly without her noticing.
