My Fh wants to move in with me, but I live at home with my family. It is just my mom, and 2 brothers. There is room in the house, but I am hoping that this change will bring a positive effect on planning the wedding. For instance, ie.....like having him come along to meet the vendors and stuff like that.
Where you girls comfortable with living together before the big day?

We've been living together for 7 months and been engaged for a year and a half. I wish we had moved in together sooner!

I lived with my FI when we first got out of college, with another person - it wasn't the best situation and we broke up after a year.
But we were both young and kinda immature and living with a poisonous person.
We've now been living together again for 1 year and a half, and it's great! I got him on my health insurance as a domestic partner even.
Just make sure you're at the right time in your life, I guess. Since you're gettting married, I assume you are!

We have been living together for 5 1/2 years. We always lived in an apartment, never with our parents. I don't think I could deal with that!

I'm a big fan of 'try before you buy'! However, I also had some concerns about co-habitation without a 'real' commitment.
I think living together while you're engaged, before you're married, is the perfect answer! I also think that if possible, you should both move into something together as opposed to one moving in with the other. I think it prevented some 'territorial' stuff. We moved in together about a week before he popped the question, and it has been bliss ever since!

I lived with my DH before we got married and I'd recommend it to anyone...at first it was definitely an adjustment (and at times still is) but worth it.

My FH and I lived together for over a year before we got engaged. Dating and living together are two totally different worlds and it was important to us that we live together first.
As for the planning aspect it makes it easier to get him involved but I do not think he would be any less involved if we didn't live together. That part has more to do with his personality then were he lives.
Sit down together and seriously talk it over. You will come up with the right decision for the two of you.

Not only do I recommend living with him before the wedding, I might go as far as to say that it is necessary. I am a strong believer in living with the person before you are married to make sure you will not kill each other. My hubby and I lived with each other for 2 years before he even proposed but we knew that if we could live together than we would definately get married. Not everyone agrees with us, but it works for us. It also helped us financially because between the both of us we were able to save up enough money in that two years to pay for our wedding instead of wasting it on paying two seperate rents and expenses.

I don't live with FH and we already own our home. We want to wait until after the wedding for many reasons that are right for us. You should choose to do whatever you feel most comfortable with. However, I don't think that moving in together will necessarily make him participate more in the wedding plans, nor do I recommend living in the same house with your Mom. I've heard so many horror stories. Just my 2 cents.

i love living with my fi. We moved in together baout 4 months before we got engaged. It was a little hard in the beginning b/c you have to get used to each other but I enjoy living together. I know I made the right decision..

I have lived with my FH for almost 5 1/2 years i think it is a good thing you really find out who you are marry. We get along very well and have enjoyed our years of living together and it will save you some money.

similar situation for me... we both had our own pads and then moved into a new one knowing an engagement would be around the corner.

I too live with my FH for over 2 years. I wouldnt marry someone if I didnt live with them first! In my opinion, you never truly know someone unless you do!

I moved in with my FH and his family before we got engaged and we just agreed that we'll be living there after we are married for a few months as well.
Its great for us because we both are workaholics. We don't get home till nearly 8 at the earliest. If we didnt live together then we'd hardly ever see eachother.
Before I moved in with him, we alternated back and forth between my place as his. It was doable but we finally agreed it was eaiser and cheaper to live together.
Thankfully his grandmother speaks no English, his mother is never home, his brother goes out with his girlfriend often so we are pretty much on our own with his grandma. We all get along so it works out.

I live with my FI presently and love it - though we are about to seperated by 3,000 miles at the end of this month. He's moving to the city for a job offer while I finish my degree here in San Diego! :o(

i have live with my fiancee pretty much the whole time we've been together. it really is amazing to have him here day in and day out. some people believe that you should not live together before marriage. personally, i am so happy we live together because we know each other soooo well and we have learned about each other's habits!!!!!

Mi Fi and I have been officially living togther for 2 years (when we were not engaged) and I have to admit it has been wonderful for us. For me it really cemented why i wanted to be with him for the rest of my life. Also it help to work on some on the responsibilites around the house.

Honestly, it's the best way to go, because it's an adjustment, but it's also fun. 9 times out of 10, you're moving to a better apartment because you can afford it now on two incomes and so it just makes it such an exciting time. That makes the transition so much easier, rather than moving into his place (and having to sterilize the whole joint) or him moving into your place and being 'in the way' all the time because we get so used to our own space. Okay.... I'm getting carried away now.... I'm sure you ladies get my point!

I moved in with FH six months ago, about 7 months after we got engaged. I love it! Does it make him more involved in planning? Yes, only because we used to live 1000 miles apart and he wasn't there to see all of the vendors and stuff

We didn't move in together until we were engaged. we decided that it would be a terrific way to save money for the wedding and our future. This time has also enabled us to adjust to living together. It is quite a change but a positive one.
