I think all eyes will be in Fla this year and NO station is going to call any state until they are 100% sure. What a circus.
Bush wins this state, no Gore, No Bush, wait we can't call that state yet.

The best was the people who would say 'Well, I wanted to vote for Gore, but I think I voted for Bush.' Why did they walk out of there thinking they may have voted for the wrong person??? Why didn't they ask for help from a poll worker???

But in my opinion, it is short term relief that will lead to long term and long lasting budget problems. Bush is the only president since WWI who cut taxes at the same time he started to pump billions of dollars into a war effort. I think that those who love him now, will hate him ten years down the road when we can't get out from under. I think the tax cut coupled increased spending is fiscally irresponsible.
I completely agree with this statement. In talking to Bush supporters I find this is a commonly misunderstood truth. People think, 'well, he lined my pocket with a few hundred, he must be a good guy.' There's so much more to it than that and you know when most of us will feel it? When we've got a mortgage and a few kids to support. In other words, when we've got a lot of bills. Then we'll really pay with a tremendous deficit, higher taxes and higher interest rates, which all lead to host of other problems. I'm scared to see the effects of Bushonomics.

True Story: That election was my FIRST ever election to vote here in NYC. I lived in Queens.
I show up at my assigned voting area within the cafeteria of the closest school. All is good. It's a MESS in there! double lines of people going seemingly no where. I find my 'district' and there's these four women eating cookies and talking about which son was dating who's daughter. I asked if Im in the right place they say 'yah' So I got in one of the lines.
Time goes by and the ladies are 'checked up' on. Something's wrong. They get all upset and angry. Someone walked out with one of those little cards! (uhmm what card, I got no card) so they demand I show my card, I show my voter's registration. I got yelled at 'YOU NEED A CARD' well ok, no need to get testy. I need to get in a whole new LINE?? Why? You said I was ok. So they shove me a card with a number.
Well a guy (who I saw walk out in disgust at the total lack of order in this place) left with his card & number. I got blamed (we won't go in the HUGE outburst I had and subsequent apologies I got). Finally I got to the little booth.
NYC has really old booth technology. I had NEVER seen this lever type thing in my life. I saw the little curtain and the big red arm thingy and the lady says to me 'Ola Senorita.. por favor...' Uhmm No, I don't speak spanish... 'Ok, si.. aqui'. Uhmm still no spanish lady. So figure I can work it out right?
I spent a few minutes just staring at all those levers and tabs and gave up. 'Excuse me.. can you please help explain how to use this?' Remember I had a fit earlier so they think Im about to burst again ... 'Si , si... blahblahblahablh bhalbhabl spanish..blahblahblbah aqui..ahblahlglajfja aqua.. abhabohaobh' uhmm 'Yo no habla Espanol?' .... 'Tu es My last name (very spanish)?' .. 'Yes but I dont speak spanish!' .
She ignores me and explains the whole process again in spanish. Thank GOD I've had to listen to my grandmother over years explain crap to me. I did the whole verbal non verbal clues bit and figured it out.
THAT HAS TO BE THE WORST.
I *think* I did it right.
The point is.. sometimes asking gets you no where!

i had to use the chad system for the recall election in CA...and it was scary!!!
remember there were 135 condidates...I can easily see how someone could f- up...
we are getting computers for the march primaries...woo hoo!!!

We have these new electronic systems in Maryland and literally EVERYWHERE I go someone is trying to force me to acquaint myself with the system. And they do not accept 'No, thank you, I've already done that somewhere else' as an answer. It is so annoying, but I guess they are trying to make sure that the electorate knows what they are doing. Wouldn't want to end up like Florida

I don't bash Bush. I just think that there is someone out there who would make a better President. Is it Kerry? Not sure yet. All I know is that I disagree with Bush when it comes to his domestic policies. I believe in a women's right to choose. I believe that anyone should have the right to get married(and divorced). I ABSOLUTELY believe in seperation of church and state, and that my tax dollars should not go to help fund religious activities. I can tell you that I work in a bar and have not seen my econmic position increase. I do think that National Security is important. I just want to feel secure in a country that I believe is also protecting my rights.

Tax Cut= Cut in Service...
Bottom Line...
If he cuts taxes, he has to reduce what he is spending somewhere- and where is that somewhere? State funding (schools, etc), Social Security, etc...
Plus- like this tax cut helped any middle class people.. it only helped like the top top top % (people who make 1 Million plus a year)

I wonder if the whole Florida thing will happen again if Bush loses, like he did 4 years ago.
Like that wasn't the biggest scam, the only state that had a problem was the one where his brother was governor of, give me a break. I don't by it one bit.

The article, which I thought EVERYONE would be talking about, clearly states Bush won by the final count. Then again... only a month or two later 9/11 and no one cared again. I think most people aren't too worked up about it...since the 2000 census changed the electorals...and according to that census...bush would have won without FL...
but the fact is...he did not win the popular vote...
something that the US was very vocal about when Milosovic was reelected...but didn't win the popular vote...very hypocritical of us...
as for the NYTimes...they are not gods...after last summers scandal...you have to even take what they say with a grain of salt...

Actually there was a difference in I believe a total of 3 states.
I know Iowa was one as well. Later confirmed Bush won there too.. but they had already reported Gore.. I only know cause my parents live in Iowa and they (the state general feeling) was shock. My parents only laughed. They too were voting there for their first time as I was here in NYC. We all thought 'Damn, we thought Texas was bad!'

We need to make sure we have a president who is going to take care of this country and worry about us (it's citizens) and keep us as safe as we can be from these bastards out to destroy us.
Whats unfourtunate is that you buy into the scare tactics used by this administration to make you say something like that, practically a quote from his many speaches on the subject. 'Terrorism, 9-11, god bless america' Listen to his speaches and count how many times the guy sais 'terrorism' Yet we are spending all defence $$ on cold war style weapons (planes, tanks submarines? Like we are gonna get Bin Laden w/ a torpedo?) While taking $$ away from states for things like first responders.
