So fed up with Extreme Anti Bush antics.. I can't be the only republican around. Even I admit to disagree with Bush on items.. but the all out smear stuff I hear is annoying. He wasn't THAT bad. He did good.

Remember those Americans held hostage by China?

I sure as heck remember 9/11

I must be alone or like they say.. it's so PC to hate Bush and so 'in' to bash him that's become epidemic.

I personally think Kerry's a FOOL. Would have appreciated a race between Bush & Dean or Bush & Clark.. but Kerry? *sigh* how pathetic.

oops not War related.

Ok.. I like the way things are?

hehe that's SO stupid and idiotically simple.
But I figured after my last tangent it might do well to be simple.

Why not ask what I still don't like about Bush but will STILL vote for him?
I am pro-choice
The gay marriage thing (im still not sure about) but I don't think the state should make that choice.

Why on these two HUGE subjects am I still willing to vote for him.
Laura Bush, bless her.
American People, I honestly believe we still have power.

I was asking about issues- not a character assasination of the other candidates...

As I said- I TOO voted for Bush.. I don't have a huge problem with going into Iraq.. hell, I would've been fine w. this if he simply said, 'Screw Saddam, I don't like him' b/c either do I...

However- he is LYING to us... it's plain true. Math and numbers and sound economic principles do not lie!!!!

However, based on the improved economy remark:

Yes, the GDP (gross domestic product- value of products and services produced by USA nationals both in the US and abroad) has grown at a rate of 8.2% during the 3rd quarter of 03... However, except for the very top 2% of the population (which I think I can easily say none of us on LIW are) the remaining Americans cannot 'eat' the GDP- meaning that 8.2% increase doesn't affect our paychecks or our discretionary income. REAL economic recovery is measured by improved job security and rising of discretionary income.

IN REALITY the surge in the 4th quarter GDP of 03 was caused by the $400 tax rebate per middle to lower income household that the Democrats forced on Bush last summer.

The defecits of the US Fed Budget and the current account trade budet has soared weakening the US $ and setting us up for long-term interest rates to RISE.

Aided and abbedded by Bush are companies like Walmart- who are given tax incentives and exemption from anti-monolpoly legislation- their pricing structure is destroying American manufacturing by sending jobs overseas... manufacturers cannot meet Walmarts pricing demands manufacturing in this country- so they are forcing labor overseas- further aggravating US defecits.

I don't think Bush is the best we ever had, but he is not the worst either. Let's face it, they all lie!!! I would have rather seen Osama caught first, but it seems (at least by the press, rahter lack of it, it receives) that that took a back seat to Iraq. I don't think going into Iraq was the worst thing we ever did, just look at the way he treated those people over there, we have gone into other countires for humanitarian reasons before, but they should not have used nuclear weapons as a reason unless they were sure. Of coarse, Sadaam was an idiot for not letting the inspectors in and when he did give them full access, that made it look more suspicious.

It is unfortunate that since 9/11 we live in a different world than we did before. We were brought into the ugliness that existed out there, that always 'happened somewhere else'. We need to make sure we have a president who is going to take care of this country and worry about us (it's citizens) and keep us as safe as we can be from these bastards out to destroy us.

I am not sure yet which way I am leaning, I would have to learn a lot more about the canidates before I would give anyone my vote.

I guess I'll jump in here and support my fellow conservatives. I agree with Xelindrya in that I have not heard any real solutions from any of the Democratic candidates. All I hear is anti-Bush comments.

The reason I like Bush is that National Security is the most important issue to me, and I feel he will do the best job to protect the country. I am not pro-choice, I don't really care if gay people want to get married, and I think the economy is turning around.

Saddam Hussein was in violation of UN Resolutions, and his country has been linked to al Queida (sp?). President Bush said that the US will target those countries harboring terrorists, and that's what we did. I think the world will be better off if we can create some stability in the Middle East. I also don't think it is going to happen overnight.

I wonder how many people who say they haven't heard any solutions watched any of the debates between the democratic candidates?? I am curious because it seems to me that most of their answers had the phrase 'I propose' followed by a proposal when I watched. I believe that conservatives may not have heard any proposed solutions that they agree with, but to say they are all just standing around slamming Bush is off base. Generally speaking they start off by saying why they disagree with Bush, and then state what they would do if elected.

I disagree with Bush's tax cuts which puts a few hundred dollars in the pockets of those that need that extra money the most and tens of thousands of dollars in the pockets of those who do not. I disagree with his spending policies in light of his tax cuts. I propose that his tax cuts be reversed. Yes, I enjoy the extra little bit it gives to me. But in my opinion, it is short term relief that will lead to long term and long lasting budget problems. Bush is the only president since WWI who cut taxes at the same time he started to pump billions of dollars into a war effort. I think that those who love him now, will hate him ten years down the road when we can't get out from under. I think the tax cut coupled increased spending is fiscally irresponsible.

I don't think that is bashing or slamming Bush or anyone else.

In light of what I wrote above, and that numbers do not lie, I would like to know why conservatives think the economy is turning around???????

Just an interesting tidbit, that Edwards was on the congressional panel investigating what prompted the American action in Iraq, and he hinted on Meet the Pres that there is a lot Americans do not know about why Bush put the US into this 'war' that we cannot win. Ask anyone who remembers Vietnam, and they will see eerie similarities of the US going into a foregin, poor country and the locals killing tons of US soldiers almost quietly- why is no one making a huge deal over the fact that 2 American soldiers on average are killed in Iraq every day? Why can my President not make a case for us having a military presence there any longer?? Even is his BS about Saddam and weapons of mass destruction (that dont exist) are true, Saddam is gone and the UN inspectors can go in and clear out the supposed weapons. WHY are we still there??

And here is a question for you- if oil (the Bush family breadwinner) was not involved, do you really think the US would be there? South Korea has a very unstable leader who we know has BAD weapons (nuclear, bio) and we have done nothing.

If we are going to be aggressive on foregin policy, lets do it accross the board and not just where it benefits big Oil. Personally, I am an American who believes our Pres should focus money and effort on domestic policy. WHY are we building firehouses in Baghdad, but closing them in NYC?

I've tried to sit thru those debates.
Prehaps I have heard I purpose... blah blah.

But realistically speaking all I've heard is

I propose to take back the tax cuts by Bush
I propose to universal healthcare
I propose to bring back the soldiers overseas
I propose to make jobs
I propose to fix what Bush did.

That's fair.
But my point is, Congress makes laws not the president. And Universal Healthcare doesnt happen overnight and has been used before. Bring back our soldiers and leave Iraq is just plain stupid to me. Make jobs? Like you can wave a magic wand and make it happen? Fix what Bush had done to our economy.. yeah.. that dow sure does look crappy to me.

Im saying they propose generalizations.. fluffy promises of better days.. with no real structural basis of solutions. Give me that and I'll listen.. honestly I will. Even if I disagree, I want to KNOW their are at least OPTIONS. Viable REASONABLE, and obtainable solutions. Not just politic blah blah to woo me into thinking they will be superman.

I realize politics are tough and it's always just a promise of the future, but all I ask is a little more of the picture I want to SEE what their plans are.

I assume that is being held off until the democrats narrow it down to just one. Maybe THEN I'll hear actual progress?

Becky...I have to agree with you 100%!!! In all the debates last year before the war...I was with you on the we shouldn't get involved...

could you imagine if Iraq invaded Kuwait to change their government? oh wait...they did in 1990 and GB Sr said that was wrong...and the UN went in...

the UN cannot go in and protect Iraqs right th government b/c the US would never approve it...therefore GWB has really Stripped the UN of any power...this is a very scary thought!! The weakness of the League of Nations led to the horrors of WWII (and these leaders were 10-100x worse than Hussein)

and I am sorry that I called both Bush and Gore - idiots...you are right...I got excited!!

I think I already posted that I was against the war and I don't think that is 'plain stupid.' There are two sides to every issue and to dismiss an opposing viewpoint as stupid, simply because you do not agree with it is far too simplistic. *Notice I did not call your opinion stupid*

They all say they are going to create jobs. They have to. So does Bush. Our unemployment rate is terrible. If any candidate does not propose to create jobs, they might as well hang up their hat and go home.

I will be interested to see if you are willing to listen to a democrat once the primaries are over and the real campaigning begins. And whether you hear anything more than what you consider to be fluff from that candidate.

whoa...Universal Healthcare is nowhere on the table...and yes Congress makes the laws...but the President signs them...and COngress is dominated by Republicans right now...so that means the Republican agenda can go through pretty smoothly right now (unlike under Clinton) - so if they can pass all the laws fairly easily...where are all the reforms to help us?

MOST of the candidates are not for bringing the soldiers back immediately...they ALL have plans on withdrawing to protect the soldiers and the Iraqis...

the Dow is pretty crappy...it broke 10000 in 1999...and now its just at that level...0% increase in investment in 5 years? thats crappy...

they DO have plans!!! just b/c you cannot sit through their debates...doesn't mean they don't...

Kerry's plans

and you mentioned that Kerry is a wimp in a past thread...well he turned his boat around in enemy gunfire to save his fellow soldier...for a war he enlisted into...but didn't agree with...thats pretty hardcore lookign at GWB...well I liked planes so I joined the national guard when my country was at war...adn that was only b/c my father was the director of the CIA and I was assured that I wouldn't be going anywhere!!!

for the record...i am not a Kerry supporter - but don't attack him for something he hasn't done

I don't recall calling him a whimp.
Maybe boring.

If I called him a whimp I must have been excited.. I'll go back and read up.

I FULLY admit it's MY FAULT I dont sit through those debates!!! Its hard to do with timing, dinner, Jim and other stuff! I admit that. So perhaps I am judging them on first glances. I guess yes, that's wrong. I'll be woman enough to admit that. But at least I'm trying!
*shrug*

I'll go check for that whimp statement.
