For those of you who don't live with their FH... what are you going to do after the wedding? Are you going to buy a house shortly after the wedding? Are you going to rent something? When are you going to do either or?.... before or after the wedding??
I know this is a random question coming from me because I live with FH, but I'm just curious. Lately FH and I are getting antsy about buying a house. We want one NOW!! We've been renting for 2 years and while we love our apt. we're getting so sick of living there and just plain renting.
So a little spinoff question to the first question... For all of you who already live with FH, do you plan on continuing to rent after the wedding? How long after the wedding do you plan on buying a house?
And do you all plan on staying on LI???

We were renting for 2 years, in a lovely apartment right on the beach, but things happen, and we got a dog etc, and we were outgrowing our place too. So we decided to start looking for a house. We planned on redoing the house right away as soon as we got our permits. We looked for 3 weeks. and found a house very fast. We moved in the end of august and submitted our architect plans at the same time.
If we stayed in long beach in our apartment we could of had a wedding much sooner than june of 2008.
But i know this might sound crazy, but i would rather have a brand new house redone top to bottom then One day for a wedding.

Currently FH and I live in his apartment together and have been living together for 1 year and 1/2. But FH and I are going to build a dormer on top of my mother's house this June and hopefullly move in by November 2007 the latest and we are getting married in June 2008. Mom is turning the house over to both of us and we are going to take over the payments (taxes and utilites). Luckly my mom's house has no mortgage so we just have to pay taxes and the utilities...

Not crazy at all. I've been saving up some money for a long time, and half of it is 'house money' and other half is 'wedding money.' The 'house money' is too important to blow on a one-day wedding. RIght now FH and I l ive at home, in June we will be moving into his mothers beautiful 4 bedroom condo because she will be moving out to Southold, she is only charging us the common charges whic are about 400 a month so we can live together. ALL good things must come to an end though and FH and I must be out by before our wedding so we will probably buy a co-op or townhouse in the Manhasset area right before the wedding!

FH and I live together now, he bought a coop in queens and I am mooching. However, we want to move to NC after the wedding, we can get a friggin mansion and I never lived in a real house! I don't want my kids to grow up in a condo like I did and have to worry about how much noise they're making because the neighbors downstairs are buttwhores. Can I say buttwhores on this thing?

We are looking at buying a house now. I'm from upstate and am apalled by how much it costs to live on LI. You could get a 10 bathroom, 20 bedroom house upstate for a tiny 2 bedroom cottage here. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but the prices here are ridiculous!!!

welll i love these ?'s depending on what comes about... i want to buy something i dont care if its a condo,townhouse, co-op, or house. Since we dont live together my parents are making us an apt. in their new home we move in Jan 15th. and FH and My dad are going to build the apt. (really its just a kitchen) and our plan is to stay there for as long as possible since were just paying for what we use my parents asked us for 450 a month (i kissed their feet when they said that) that way we can save and save and save so we can buy something. So were hoping we can buy something in a year or 2 from the wedding. depending on my job we might stay here on LI or head to westchester area. Since hes in NYC we can only go so far.

My parents offered this, , since we have a mother daughter, the rent would be REALLY low,
but we have decided to live seperate until we get married and save save save to buy a house. I love my parents... but I am DONE living at home. FH and I both think it wouldn't be healthy for us to live as a couple with my parents.
We will probably start looking for a home next summer.. and see what goes from there.

id LOVE to not live with my parents but its only for a year or 2... and its dirt cheap so we can save for a house. plus with me being in school we really cant afford 1000 a month for a studio and a wedding.. plus like i said i think earlier... FH is a PO and will work crazy hours.. i dont want to get used to a new place and being left alone right away. i know im a baby.. but when i get sick i pass out and its really scary to be home alone and pass out... its happen to many times and my moms worried.. so its an adjustment period... if it doesnt work well be looking SOONER!
