I am eating in the faculty room today and this lady was like 'So how is your weight loss going' now she was nice about it but the thing is I have never discussed this with her or really with anyone that I work with! I dont really like talking about it at work because then people scrutinize what your eating and I am sensitive about it....I was stunned so I was just like oh I am trying and she said yes I can see that! What is that supposed to me??

OMG, people are so nervy! Maybe she didn't mean anything by it and was trying to be supportive, but it's still kind of strange. What were you eating? If it was like a salad, then maybe she was tyring to be encouraging. If it was something not so good, I would have slapped her silly.

I wouldn't take it personally. Everyone thinks that future brides are only focused on losing weight for the big day. And it's SO annoying that people have to insert both feet into their mouths - leave it to a co-worker to do that. But PLEASE, don't take it personally!!

I was eating yogurt and celery and drinking water! But how does that translate to being on a diet???? Then I start thinking that she is asking me because I look like I need to be on one...It just makes me upset!

Don't let her upset you. Maybe she said it because she noticed you were losing weight. It could have been her way of giving you a compliment. I know sometimes people say things without even thinking!

I think what January Bride said is true. People just assume that all brides are on a diet for the wedding. I think that 'I see that' comment was meant well since you were eating something really healthy. It's just weird that she would assume you are trying to lose weight. Don't feel bad about it. People say the dumbest things to me all the time. You just have to let it roll in one ear and out the other.

But she didn't even put 2 and 2 together that I was even getting married! Because I even said yeah I am getting married soon...and she was like oh really?

I would agree. People had tons to say at work when I cut my hair - like I committed a mortal sin. Why do people take so much interest in other people?

That is weird! I dunno. Maybe the other girls are right, that's she's noticed you losing weight and maybe she's seen you eat and decided to guess that you were dieting. At any rate, it's still nervy, unless she's a close friend of yours, and it doesn't sound like she is.

She's not...I talk to her only because we are the only 2 people who have lunch at that time!
