RANT - I HATE MY JOB! - it's long, i'm sorry!
I'm sorry - i just had to get this out - at the moment i want to SCREAM!!!!!!!!
If this were a year ago - i was the happiest person ever to have a job. I had a MAGNIFICENT boss who made me feel appreciated, knew how to use my skills & who just was the best boss EVER!!
Fast forward - he was promoted and has moved to China (he wanted to take me, but they already have someone in my position there). Maybe 4 months before his promotion - we hired another manager and he has now taken over as Director.
He has NO CLUE what i'm capable of, is a MORON. Every single suggestion I make or thing I say, 'well, no'....
We have what's called a discretionary budget this quarter - to spend on a luncheon. It's 25 a head and we only have 25 people here total - if everyone is here. We're a very small satellite office. So - he wants to get some things from a Chinese food place, some from an Indian place, some from an Italian place, etc. I tell him point blank that's a waste - there's a VERY GOOD gourmet deli nearby that does catering and they have all kinds of things and the guys here LOVE the food!
This is my email to him:
After spending some time on the phone yesterday with a few places - this is what I'm going to suggest at the Site Meeting…
The best bang for our buck is going to be to get everything from one place - as they give you a better deal if you do that. A few years ago - we did a whole catered thing from Mi Amore that was a huge success -they bring in the sterno heating things, supply plates, napkins, serving spoons, everything!
Their price is FANTASTIC for what you get. Here's how it works:
We get 4 main course dishes - which are chicken, beef or fish. My suggestions (these can be changed, of course) - Thai chicken(served over dirty rice, a major favorite of the guys here), swedish meatballs, baked flounder & chicken francaise. (I can look up what we ordered last time, but Jerry - as you may remember, little to no food leftover.) We then also get 4 sides - which are a pasta, vegetable or potato. My suggestions, penne ala vodka, vegetable paella, grilled vegetables & vegetable lasagna (again - these can be changed, of course).
On top of that - we then get salad (enough for 25) & bread & butter for all as well.
The price for this amount of food is $25.00 per person.
Here's another thought. If we only did TWO main course dishes & two side dishes - the price is $12.95 per head. If we did it that way - we could have TWO luncheons in one week. I didn't know if that would be too much….we may be better off giving people more options to eat and doing it all on one day instead of trying to get them to do two big lunch breaks in a week.
The reason this is what I'm suggesting is because if we do a few dishes from Palace of Jaipur and a few platters from Stelton Pizza and a few things from a Chinese food place - the price is higher & we won't get nearly as much, because we're not doing BULK food - I hope that makes sense… By sticking with one place that has a bunch of different items we can get more food for a much better price.
The way we did the selections last time is I presented the menu in an email form with voting buttons & the majority won on all cases. I can do the same this time if it's what's agreed upon at the Site Meeting.

and this is the jerks reply - i know it's not too bad - but trust me - on top of everything else...i'm really angry:

Thanks for the follow up. This is very helpful. The Mi Amore looks good. However, it is not good for the vegetarian folks and there are many of such in our team. The vegetarian would be side dishes, which will not work. How about Palace of Jaipur and Mi Amore . It is more work, but perhaps doable.

So moron - do you really think i'm afraid of WORK?????? I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did he miss the part where i told him we've done this before - when he wasn't here and it was a huge hit??????????????
Sorry for the vent girls - i just hate it here. I thought I could hold out until lafter the wedding/honeymoon - but i'm not sure I can anymore...
