the only post i saw about money was the eparty thread....i didnt think anything was said but i also could have missed it or something...i see both sides of the story here...people choose to spend their money differently and thats ok...absolutely!
Why would the E-Party thread cause this thread to come out? I mean, the girl who posted the E-Party thread was asking how much people paid for their party. Why would that be a big deal? Everyone spends their money differently and to be honest, who cares? I don't get why people get so angry over this topic- it's effing ridiculous!
wasnt saying that I was angry at the thread or anything and i definitely wasnt trying to get anyone heatedd (hope i didnt flairforfashion)...i was just saying that if it was in regard to a specific thread that was the only one I had seen regarding money...like i said, spend what you want on your wedding! Everyone is different!

I dont talk to ANYONE about the price of ANYTHING for my wedding for this specific reason. People can be very judgemental and feel free to give their opinion when its not needed nor asked for.

Im choosing not to respond to this topic for the simple fact that every single time someone has posted a rant about something being bad/wrong on the boards/bashing of another thread/etc etc, it ALWAYS becomes a much bigger issue than the original issue...
If something isnt liked and cannot be handled on the board like grown women, I would suggest the use of FM's or IM's or whatever technological device out there that doesnt involve the whole LIW community because its just gonna get ugly and nothing is going to get resolved...

RELAX GIRLS! lol Its just a generilazation from a conversation in real life not forum life that made me begin to think how people on here and in real life sometimes get. Im not creating drama im just making a statement that honestly annoys the heck out of me! I was wondering if i was the only one who feels this way. Dont read to much into it. lol

I am splurging on my wedding and I have been honest about a lot of it here (sometimes I try to avoid the money talk b/c I know that I am lucky to be able to do that without worrying about how to pay for it).
On the other hand I am still savvy about some things - I could have bought the $$$$$ dress I originally wanted but I kicked it down a notch and found something just as nice.
Nobody on here has ever commneted about it or made me feel bad for it. Everyone has been so nice. I am trying to get deals were I can but I also work 12-14 hours a day most times and am paying for 100% of this solo so I don't feel bad about it.
I am jealous of the girls who can do it for less and I apprecaite the tips and advice they give me. I don't have as much time for DIY and shopping around so this site has been a saving grace in the last month or two as I have been slower at work.
There are splurgers and budgeters here and we all help and respect each other - for the most part!
And honestly - if is spend less, I will be closer to buying a fabulous house post - wedding!
AND SO AGREE WITH YOU! IM THRIFTY & SPEND WHERE I WANT. THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY. KUDOS FOR A GREAT POST!

Yeah I think so too. I was speaking to a coworker and she goes 'Well my DAUGHTER got the eternity band because it just made sense for her ' and I was like 'Great for her! I want a house!' I was just joking around though with the one up thing i knew what you meant :)

OMG I sure hope my thread didn't cause any drama. I was asking because we are not willing to throw all our money into an e-party and we want to weigh our options and see what we could do. I certainly wasn't trying to offend anyone or make people feel bad about spending too much or too little, I just wanted some help. NO it wasnt because of your post at all! No worries sweetie. I do have people & weddings outside of the LIW forum that pull this crap. So no drama it was something i was feeling as explained above at the particular time. Thats it. It was a generalization. Sorry for the confussion girls.

It's helpful to get ideas about what things cost, but any judgments one way or the other on what someone is spending are inappropriate and rude!! It's not supposed to be a competition, but Brides Helping Brides and supporting each other!!!

As fas as LIweddings is concerned, I think it's ok to ask what people have spent.... whats the worse that can happen? Nobody answers. I talk to my girlfriends, some who recently got married and some who are also engaged. and all we do is chit chat on 'prices'. I mean, you can't ask this to your single friends or people you aren't close with. NOt that I am saying the girls on LIwedding are close, but we are all here to help each other out. Anyone that posts what they spent, I'd like to think, just wants to share what they paid. Some of us get good deals in some areas but then we s c r e w up and get di c ked somewhere else. So in the end everything evens itself out.
i dont think anyone on this site purposely posts stuff to upset other brides. When I put up the prices I paid, I put them up mainly for the new brides who are looking for RH's or vendors.
On the other hand, people at work flat out ask me, 'how much did your dress cost???' And I mean, I really dont like answering that question. Simply b.c I know I paid too much for a dress I am only going to wear 'out in public' once. So I kinda try to brush it off, I usually say 'A lot...I dont wanna talk about it b.c I will throw up' then they laugh and walk away. lol. To those people I did tell, they usually try to make me feel better about it.
Actually today one of the Albanian teachers I work with said to me: In Albania they say that the 3 most important events of your entire existence are: 1) your birth 2) your wedding and 3)your death. you have no control over your birth or your death. The only one you do have control over is your wedding. So do it right ...the way YOU want it to be. You are born w. no $$$ and when you die you take no $$$ w. you. So if u end up w. no money in the end....might as well spend it on your wedding.
