I was just looking at J CREW, love one of hte dresses but they only have a 14 - I would need a 10... it would be 40 with shipping - would it be worth it to buy and get altered???

Re: RD Dress? Outfit??
It totally could be, especially since the dresses are normally $200+, you'd probably still be paying way less even with alterations and shipping.

Re: RD Dress? Outfit??
can they take it in 4 sizes or would it look weird??!!!
Which dress is it? I would imagine that they can, but I would call your tailor and ask what they think before you get it, but since it's so inexpensive it might be worth just trying.

Actually a 14 to a 10 is only 2 sizes - most dresses can easily be taken in up to 2 sizes, so you should be fine! And the dresses are originally so much $$$ that if you can get it for $40 and have a (not so pricey) seamstres, it could work perfectly!

Re: RD Dress? Outfit??
I think since it's a simple seam on each side, they shoud definitely be able to do it. Also, it will fit you exactly, which will be great and is a plus with a strapless dress, you won't be yanking it up all night.
It's gorgeous btw. You could also do the aubergine, which is pretty too and avoid all the alterations, but I understand why you would want the ivory.

Re: RD Dress? Outfit??
I'm most probably wearing a dress I bought that matches our wedding colors!
It's brown with a blue liner and the brown fabric is like a nice chiffon so you can see the blue through it.
It's v-neck and below the knee length. Very pretty. On the 'dressy' side, but whatever. I tend to dress up for everything.

Well done!! That was over $160 savings, I'm sure you can do the alterations for a quarter of that!
