I think we are just going to have beer / wine at our RD, I was just curious what the 'norm' is.
Is that tacky? I didn't think so, but I'm just curious of people's opinons.

Re: RD poll - alcohol
We are doing beer/wine/soda also.
My rd is the night before my wedding and I really wou;d prefer if people didn't get trashed (Not like they couldn't off of beer and wine, but whatever)
And NO, its not tacky at all, some people do not even offer any alcohol

That's fine for a RD. I thought you actually meant for a wedding.

thats what I thought, but one of my co-workers gave me a funny look when I was talking about it - I got nervous!

Re: RD poll - alcohol
I probably will have wine on the table and if anyone wants to order a beer or two it will be charged to the bill- I think that would work out perfectly instead of announcing open bar sometimes people subconsciously will drink more

Re: RD poll - alcohol
we are having a consumption bar, so we pre-set a tab for everyone so it looks like open bar and we told them to let us know when we hit a certain amount and we pay for what everyone drinks on separate tab works out cuz we like more than just beer/wine/soda but only half or so will drink and some only have 1 and some have 1 too many either way wont cost us a fortune

I think beer/wine/soda is the norm for RD's. That's what I plan on having. Everyone can have all the mixed drinks their hearts desires at the wedding two days later!

Beer/wine/soda - No need for full bar. It is costly and the last thing I want for myself or others is a hangover. There will be too much to do the day before the wedding.

FMIL originally mentioned doing a cash bar and I was like... but I explained to FH that I'd rather have no alcohol than ask our bridal party for pay for their own drinks but that I really thought we should have at least beer/wine/soda. I think that's what we're going to end up doing.
Ours is also the night before, and we are an afternoon wedding, so I dont want people getting trashed but I'd like there to be wine/beer.

We were going to do beer and wine only, but price wise it wasn't much more to do open bar so we decided to do open bar! This is only reason we did open bar, I think it's fine to do just beer and wine!

I wish we could rely on the weather and do this, but November is too iffy.

East Wind provides all their brides with wine/beer at the RH if you use their restaurant (which I am). I am pretty sure that's the norm.

fh insisted they have alcohol, he drinks scotch and so do all his guys so he wants them to all drink scotch. I guess we can ask for a consumption bar hmmmm
