So I have friends that I keep in touch with through facebook or myspace and check in with once in a while. So I had like 4 people from college tell me they were enagaged and it was awesome and I would check in to see how their planning was.
Then recently I kept seeing captions like 'so upset' or 'can't believe it' and now they are all listed as Single.
Whats going on? I feel so bad for them...they had countdowns, and RH booked and now nothing.

That's horrible! Sometimes engagement are contagious and everyone rushes to do it at the same time, even if it's not a good idea. I hope it's for the best.
Yes...engagements are definately contagious. Ya know I got engaged in May 2007 and planned for an October 2009 wedding, about 3 people I knew got engaged after me and are recently married. People constantly ask me why I chose such a long engagement. And my answer is...'ya never know what can happen'. Bottom line, things can go wrong throughout an engagement and to be honest, I just think its better to wait. JMO.

Better canceled engagements than divorces, I guess. It's sad either way though.
ITA, better to realize it's not going to work NOW, than go through with the wedding and then a messy divorce. It's sad, and I've seen it happen to people, but you know, I look at FH and I and I say, we've been together over 10 years now, we're ready to get married, and even though you don't know what will happen, we're both sure that we're ready to do this and spend the rest of our lives with each other, if 2 people aren't ready to make that commitment, then they really aren't ready to get married, a wedding doesn't make a marriage, as we all know, it's the bond we have with FH...sorry for the ramble!!!!!
