So I was in NY this weekend trying to find a photographer. Before I left I did my research and called 29 places for prices, looked at all the webstes and narrowed it down to 5 that I visited this weekend. So out of the five I liked Patken the best. There prices are reasonable and in my budget, but I am a little uneasy about this 11 photographer...dontknow which one you are getting thing till after you sign. I know they keep saying that I can cancel with full refund up tp 6 months before the weddign but that sounds too good to be true....
Anyone have any advice or comforting words. I think because photography is so important to me I may be overly nervous about picking someone.
Any Opinions?????

My sister just booked Patken and is thrilled with her decision! Do a search on the boards and you'll find many good reviews on them. I think that Patken is a great choice.

My sister used Patken for her wedding, and a few of my friends did, also. They each had different photographers, and all of the pictures are beautiful. You have nothing to worry about!

I am using Patken and couldn't be happier. IF you request a certain photographer, they can check and see if they are available before they book. We are using Steve because FI knows his wife from HS.

The day I booked with Patken I was able to meet with Steve who will be our photographer. We liked his worked and clicked well with him. I also happened to go on a week day and I went to their Lindenhurst office maybe that made a difference.
All of their photographers are trained by Doug the owner, who is truly the best.
The day we did our first engagement shoot (Doug took the pictures), we also got to meet Vinnie. He was very nice and personable as well.

They are all very very nice. I work at villa lombardi's so I see Vinnie, Steve, Nick, Evan alot all of the girls seem to love them. They are very friendly, and as JPEP says -they are all trained by Doug the owner. You can see if one of them is available for your date and have that one person do your e-pics.

Sorry I was snooping on the 06' boards and came across this post. We booked with Nick at Patken, he got some awesome reviews here, plus he is very nice. We actually saw some of his work and the pics are GORGEOUS!! Doug (the owner) is great also but I believe its like $2500 more or less for him. Good Luck!

Thank you for letting me know this. I tried to set up appointment with them, but schedule this week is sooooo crazy I was waiting until next week. However, now that I know you can't meet photographer until after you book - they are out. FH will NOT book photographer without meeting before contract is signed.

Patken is great and all the photographers have good reputations. They will give you a free engagement shoot so you can see the work of your photgrapher, but you can request a specific one if you don't want to be assigned. We have Vinnie and he is great. Do a search on the boards and you'll def. find reviews on the specific photographers.

I booked Patken for photography and my brother used them for his wedding and there pictures were amazing. I haven't heard anything bad about them. I hear all the photographers at Patken are great.

Not sure how true that is...we met with the photographer before we booked and his name is on our contract.
