Read the post on the newlywed's board. Everyone is freaking out and it really does make you think!
Everyone is freaked out about yabbobay's abrubt departure. It was one of her students, but think of how much stuff some of us do share, it's scary!
There can be some sicko lurking upon us reading all of our personal info!

As I said on the NW board - with the exception of a few special circumstances like law enforcement personnel, etc... there doesnt seem to be any real threat here. I dont think Ive posted about anything that I would be afraid for the world to know. And since this board is so wedding specific, we really dont discuss very many private topics like the other boards do.

I know the natural reaction is to think the worst but until we find out what happened to Yabbobay - we are all jumping to conclusions.

And for some reason I just dont see criminals and sickos reading all of our posts and collecting information on us :D

I'm not scared at all. People knowing who I am or who my FH is doesn't scare me at all. There are some personal things I won't broadcast to the world but things about my wedding are happy things that I want to share.

I'm not scared either. But I've never given out very personal specific information on here, because after all we are on the Web. I think you just have to use your best judgment when deciding what to post.

There is nothing that anyone probably has posted that someone couldn't figure out anyway if they really wanted to. I mean, just look at the personal info in the phone book...your name and address...so I really wouldn't worry and make a huge deal about it. Everytime you order something online, you put your name, address and credit card. You can access your bank online...etc. The way I see it, don't be careless with info you give out, but don't get all crazy about it either.

I'm still a little confused as to what happened!!!

One of her students figured out who she was, and what?? was harassing her??? In less yabbobay was trashing her job or something (which I don't think she was), why would it matter if a student knew who she was??

Maybe I'm missing a piece of the puzzle.

I agree with all of you. It's our wedding and all of us can benefit from our ideas and opinions. So what, I posted my name. Now what??? Should I loose sleep. Why??? Unless you reveal ALOT of info then maybe. I say use your best jusgement and be cautious.....as in anything.

I agree that it could be creepy, but we aren't posting the kind of stuff that could be construed as dangerous in any way. So what if someone finds out that I am getting married at the Crest Hollow and that my wedding will be a kick ass affair with 150 people and a kickin band, with light blue dresses? I mean, the only reason to really worry about something like this is if you posted very personal information regarding family matters, you badmouthed someone, or something else that if you did it in person would be taken the wrong way too!

The thing I think is completely wrong is when a vendor comes on and tracks a person down, in that case I think a complaint should be filed with the better business bureau, and possibly online harrassment.

Just to confirm what has been already said - there are lots of OTHER much easier ways to get information than reading all of the posts on this board and snooping for minor details.

If you are worried about details being shared here, you better shut off your internet connection entirely, start shredding all your garbage, set up a PO box for your mail to be delivered, etc..

Also for those of you who say that you have not given out any personal information should think again. For instance many people have their pics in their profiles, along with thier names, their wedding dates and the wedding place. I am fine with it, but if you are freaked out you should really take a cloer look at ALL the information you are giving out!

I would also just be a little more cautious of the information you give out regarding your wedding details. You never know who might show up, so just be careful.

So what if someone knows your name and sees the pix of you and your hubby...so what??? SO they know where your wedding is?? what is the big deal, to me it might be nothing, but I am not going to let something as simple as the internet make me go crazy thinking about everything that I post here or on any other board that I visit. Imagine if we were celebrities. I know the comfort level that I have vs. what others have is different, but if you are that worried then stop living. Life is too short to get so worked up over this.

Does anyone knows what happened to YB?? NO!!! so why all this jumping to conclusion and getting all worked up. I am sorry if I sound harsh but I am not going to let this bother me??? Would anyone like to see some of our pix?? Would anyone like to know where we got married or what borough I live in ???

Does this mean, we will now monitor evey single thing we say, or where we go or what we do??? That is not even realisitc.

Ladies there are bigger fish to fry than this.

HOw about everyone gets over it! If you want to worry about it you can and if you don't want to worry about it than don't. I don't think it is fair that any ONE person should pick on the feelings of another. Like everything else on this board everyone is going to have different opinions so lets respect them. I could care less if my pic is up and on the same, if you don't feel comfortable with yours being up well than I could care less there too.
