How soon do you ask the people who you want to do readings at your ceremony?? I am not getting married for over a year..is it too early?? or do you do it the same time you ask your wedding party??

I didn't ask until about a month or two before hand. If you absolutely know who you would like you can ask at any time. We picked a few months before and then asked them. We invited them to the rehearsal dinner and practice so they will have a chance to look over the reading before the big day.

I asked mine about a week after we picked the bridal party. We knew who we wanted so we didnt wait.

I say wait as long as possible b/c you want to be sure of your decisions and not regret asking someone by the time the wedding comes, which is unfortunately what happened to us :(

I agree with Minibride...
...I already know who we`re going to ask, but I`m going to wait until a few months before - our wedding is still over a year away - who knows what can happen in that time!

I think the timing depends on who you are planning to ask. For example we are having my Godson who is 15 do the first reading. I asked him right away about a year in advance. He now has the reading committed to memory and we have 3 weeks to go. For the second reading we are having one of my cousins. She is very outgoing and has spoken to groups professionaly so she wont really need to prepare. I asked her a few weeks ago. The same is true of the couple doing our poetry reading (B-IL and S-IL). They are both professionals used to addressing groups.

I am not having readers, but asked two of my cousins (their sister is in the bridal party) to be program and bubble hander outers. These two I know I will have no problems with at the wedding, unfortunately I can't say the same for the bridal party. :(Welcome New Vendors
