I got a manicure today and wondered if I should make a 3rd attempt at uv gel nail tips, even though EVERY TIME I do it, I hate it and have them taken off after a month..
So I'm a real nail gal although I love how tips look (when they're clean and natural)

I have natural nails now, but I definitely am going to get short, permanent french tips for the wedding and honeymoon because my nail polish ALWAYS chips and I don't want to look like trailer trash at my wedding.
Me too I always chip, and my nails peel. Are you doing gel, silk or acrylic?

If you are thinking of tips, seriously look into DASHING DIVA. It is a new chain of nail salons that offers 'virtual nails.' Basically, its just a clear fake nail that fits to your nail perfectly. They can then design however you want - painted, french, etc.
The best part is that when you go back to soak them off (which i recommend doing!), the nail actually dissolved off your nail, which leaves your natural nail in good shape!
I did this for my e-party and will probably do again when we take e-pics in the spring. But they looked great for 2 weeks and then I just soaked them off.

Re: Real Nails or Fake?
I get powder on my natural long nails, then they put the french (which nail polish on tip) on it and another layer of powder, andtop it all off with glue so that the polish wont chip. i do have to go for a fill in every two weeks. But I find this to be the most natural/inexpensive way to maintain nice nails. My fill in is $15 and I get the whole set redone (soak my nails in acetone and start from scratch about every 3 months) which cost $25 at my salon in Queens. Yes my nails are not strong enough by any means when I have them soaked so you have to maintain it.

Re: Real Nails or Fake?
real all the way!! I got silk extentions for our engagement party back in August. I kept them on till right around Thanksgiving maybe. My nails now are SO thin and weak not to mention short as h*ll. I don't bite them either... its going to take a long time for these babies to get back to normal. I'm def not getting fakes for the wedding.

You have to buy Sally Hanson Hard as Nails Polish. It like if you are putting a wrap without all the gels. I have seen a vast improvement in my horrible nails since using basically any sally hansen nail growth products!!!
ITA - i love that stuff. I use it so much i should buy stock in it. It seriously works!! I've been using it for years. I got extension for the e-party and now that they're off i'm back to using it to get my nails strong again. I put one coat on each day and then after about 7 or 8 days i take it off and start over and keep doing it.

I used to love the permanent french look. No polish, just the acrylic.
Now I like the look of natural nails, short and dark. Although for summer, french is always nice.
