so FH had to take my ring back due to my prong breaking and they had my ring for THREE weeks. he surprised me today by picking it up before he came home. well my happiness soon disappeared when I saw that they obviously ATTEMPTED to fix it, but the diamonds are still not laying flat and the box they sit in (where it broke) is not 100% fixed. I'm completely devastated. I literally broke down into tears. FH says I can go back with them tomorrow to talk to them (and possibly get a replacement ring - since I'm so afraid the diamonds are going to fall out because they aren't flat) but I know I'm going to make a scene because I'm so upset and angry. I don't know what to do

I wouldnt blame you if you did make a scene. First of all its completely unacceptable that they had it for 3 weeks. Second of all its TOTAL BS that they had it for 3 weeks and its NOT FIXED!! Your FH spent A LOT of money on that ring and they cant even fix it properly in a decent amout of time?!?!?! I feel for you 100% but I would make sure when you guys go there tomarrow that you let them know that they NEED to fix your ring or give you a new one. Thats total BS!!! Good luck!!

Every time I look at it I start crying FH keeps telling me to put it in the box and wear my great aunt's ring (which I've been wearing since mine was in the shop)because I keep analyzing the ring and crying. I'm so not a crier but I'm just really upset.
I don't want to make a scene because I know it's not the guy's fault, but I also don't think they make my ring anymore (part of like a special promotion thing or something). FH was like they should replace it and let me pick out a new one but THAT'S NOT THE POINT! I don't want a new one - I love my ring and he picked it out himself!

State your mind! Obviously you guys spent money on it and they are responsible for fixing it! And I agree .. 3 weeks is a VERY LONG amount of time!!!! If you don't get a replacement, I would consider taking it somewhere else to be fixed. Good luck!

You def have a right to be upset. Just like the other girls said, your FH spent alot of money on your ring and it should be perfect. They should do anything and everything in order for it to be perfect.
Have you thought about taking it to another jeweler? Maybe someone else will be able to fix it the way it was?

I just don't know what to do. I literally just stopped crying (on and off) because I'm so confused. I love my ring and don't want to give it up, but I'm so afraid that a diamond will fall out of it (I have a 4 stone center). It's not HORRIBLE, you can tell that they tried to fix it, but the diamonds still aren't flat. I wonder if they just take them out and reset them? I'm not really sure. My family jeweler had told me they would have to take apart the box the diamonds sit in to fix that then reset the diamonds. But it doesn't seem like that's what this place did. I'd bring it to my jeweler, but FH got the insurance plan through this place so I feel like they should honor it - since technically we SHOULDN'T have to pay to get this fixed.

I would def take it in and show them what your talking about and try to get the highest authority to speak to, express how upset you and are how much it means to you, and above all how its totally unexceptable, they are in the business of jewelry they should know exactly what to do.

I don't know where you are located but I go to Gennaro Jewelers in Bellmore, they do everything while you wait and watch. I had a ring resized and dipped and a prong fixed and they did it all within about an hour and you watch them do every step its actually fascinating to see how they do it al

If you paid for it I'd ask for your money back for the repair that they didn't even do too. I don't think you are wrong in getting a little mad with them at all

OMG. I am so sorry. I had to give my ring up for a week to get fixed. I think you might want to take it elsewhere. Sadly, I guess since you aren't purchasing anything you are no longer a priority to them.

They really need to take the box that my diamonds sit in OFF and replace it then put the diamonds back it. It looks like they just made the side that had the dent/piece missing even - hoping I didn't notice I guess? I noticed it as soon as I opened the box! FH saw my face drop. It just sucks. I'm going today & am going to try to reason with them... If that doesn't work, I'm going to flip out and cause a scene

I would flip out if I were you. But at the same time I wouldn't even want them to have my ring again. 3 weeks is a ridiculous amount of time to FIX a ring. You could get like 5 rings made within that period of time. Maybe you should go take it someplace else and see what they have to say before going back to your jeweler. That way (i'm not sure if they are fixing it for free?) you can tell them what exactly needs to be done.
I'm very curious to know which jeweler you went to so I can make sure to tell my friends to stay faaaaar away.

I'll FM you and let you know where FH got the ring. He (UNFORTUNATELY) didn't go to MY jeweler, which may be our stop on Saturday if they can't fix my ring TODAY because I will be demanding a refund.

Did they give your fh any reasons why they didn't fix it? Since you have insurance, shouldn't they give you a replacement if they can't fix it? I would be upset too.

went down tonight and the women working were like 'that's THE ring!' so apparently my ring has become infamous around the store. they actually are replacing the ring - FH forgot his receipt so they couldn't do it tonight, but he is going down after work tomorrow - and I checked out the ring already and it's all good! much happier now!!!
