really sad news :-(

Original post by jackie604

I know I am very new to this forum, I haven't been able to participate as much as I had wanted because of my working overnights etc... but we are going to have to postpone the wedding because my FMIL was just diagnosed (yesterday) with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and it's not looking good at all it has already spread to her liver. This is a shock to all of us, she has only been complaiing of slight bak pains and stomach aches but she also has had history of ulcers so nothing alarmed her. SHe didn't tell us she went to the doctors and yesterday she had gotten the results from all the tests and broke it down to us. Anyway, I have to try and get some sleep because I had already commited to a double shift and have to be back at work at 3pm.

I will be back one day, just do not know when just yet but I know that I could no longer be a '08 bride

Thanks for the advice you girls have given me I will look forward to it again one day!!!

Re: really sad news :-(

im really sorry to hear of this news. My uncle was told he had the same type of cancer. They said there was not a lot they could do here but he went over to Europe and they are treating him when they said they couldnt here. It might be something to look into. It is a bit costly to stay over there for a length of time but if it might help save her life its totally worth it. if you need more info please FM me and ill keep her in my prayers

Don't worry, I'm going through the exact same thing with my FI. He's got colon cancer and started his chemo. We decided to postpone the wedding until he's in remission.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hi girls,

Thank you SOOOOOOOO much for the prayers and support. I didn't end up going to work today, I really wasn't able to sleep and doing 18 hours in a lab just wasn't going to happen!!!!! In addition I have just been besides myself. My FH should be coming home soon and we are going to my future in laws.

Obviously we are not going to resume wedding planning just yet, I know my MIL would love to see us get married she has been waiting for it for 7 years! I think if anything we are just going to speed things up and do an immediate family and a restaurant type of thing, Now I am just blabbering because I cant think straight I just know the prognosis can't be good and actually it might be dreadful since I have been researching( prob my biggest mistake).

Anyway thank you for the wonderful comments and I am sure in some time I will be back on and asking advice on how we should do things.

You girls really made an impression on me and have to say sometimes when I get a chance and read some of the posts it just brings a smile to my face. But I will be back, and when I finally get off night shift and feel like I am human and have a life again I could actually spend some quality time on LIW.

So sorry that you and your FH and his family are going through this. Take your time and think things through...don't act quickly upon hearing this awful news. There was recently a bride on here that had a private ceremony without the reception because her FMIL was gravely ill and they will have the reception on the original date planned. It was a beautiful touching thing for them to do.
But also I had a cousin who had incurable cancer who's son was getting married. Everyone knew that he would hang in just to see his son married...which he did. It was almost unbelievable that 5 days after the wedding, he passed peacefully. Human will is very strong.
So take your time and make a decision that is right for all of you.
I will keep you in my prayers.
