Reason to smile....

Well, all of you know that my father passed away very suddenly on the 25th. I cannot imagine my wedding right now but I know that he would want me to be happy so I must continue planning.

Well, I got numerous cards and had many conversations with my dad's friends. Apparently my dad gushed about my wedding non stop. About 10 of his rough, tough, upstate hunter/fisherman, carpenter friends told me in person or in cards that he even told them about my dress. I would have paid to hear those chats! I guess my dad told them the whole story from me buying a dress, returning it and now debating between two dresses. I remember showing my dad the Jasmine gown and his eyes welled up. He told so many people how much he liked that dress.

So, decision made. I am buying the Jasmine gown. AND I got a call yesterday that the store upstate by my mom's house finally got in the dress sample. SO, on Saturday my mom, my aunt and my little cousin (Jr. MOH) are all going to the store so I can try on the dress again. I'll order it up there or from Burton's or Bridal Elegance but either way...my dress is a reason to smile. It's exactly what my dad wanted me to wear!

Thank you ladies. Moving on with my wedding is not easy right now but I know he would want me to. I always strived to make him proud and I will continue to do so now. I'm just so happy he got to see the dress and loved it. Now wearing it will mean so much more.

My FH got very emotional at the wake and with cards because of the over 1000 people and the wake and funeral (my dad was popular, lol), EVERYONE knew Chris and knew a lot about him. My dad adored him and told everyone that. That makes me happy too. My dad loved Chris and wanted both of us to be happy. As hard as it is, I just need to remember that my dad was proud of me and wants me to be happy.

That is so sweet and I'm sure it is going to be very special for you to wear that dress on your wedding day knowing your dad loved that dress. My dad passed away unexpectedly 5 years ago and it is really hard during the wedding planning not to have him around and I'm sure it will be even more difficult on my actual wedding day. He loved my FH so much like he was one of his own sons so I know that he would be so happy for us that we are getting married. I know it isn't easy but just remember your dad is looking down on both of you and couldn't be happier and he is so proud of your strength during this difficult time

I think it's so great that your dad had such amazing friends that cared about him and about you. I truely believe that your dad will be with you planning your wedding every step of the way.
