Re: receiving line
I am also getting married at the hall, and had the same question. I didn't know if it was rude to skip it. I am glad to hear it is not! FH wants to go to the cocktail hour.

Re: receiving line
I'm getting married at the church and my photographer is going to announce that we're not having a rec. line right after we exit. Then we'll hide to the side and they'll rush everyone out - that way we'll still get to exit when everyone is outside and the pic with the flower petals. I want to be at my cocktail hour!

I'm skipping it too because my ceremony is at the hall. I'm planning on going around and greeting everyone at the reception.

Re: receiving line
I'm 50/50 with the receiving line. I'm getting married at the church and its soooooo small so I don't think there is even room for it :)
Besides, I have about 45 minutes of daylight to take pics so I don't want to waste it. I would rather see everyone at the cocktail hour while I'm stuffing my face

Re: receiving line
We are ditching the line and going table to table during the reception. We don't really dance so it will be fun for us to table hop.

Re: receiving line
If I were getting married at the reception site, I would skip the receiving line too & just get the party started

Re: receiving line
i'm getting married at the church. we're having a ceremony which starts at 10:30 and is about 35 minutes long. my cocktail doesn't start til 1pm. i definitely want to be at my cocktail hour. do you think i'll have enough time to have a receiving line? the church is about 20 minutes form the reception hall.

Re: receiving line
No receiving line for me. It will just remind me of the receiving line we had for my Mom's funeral
But, I will definitley make my rounds during the reception where I want to socialize w/everyone

Re: receiving line
yippe - no receicing line, the only problem will be that we do dance and want to get to everyone before the dancing - we'll be working the cocktail hour !!!

Re: receiving line
itsabouttime - I have the same schedule as you and if you want to be at your cocktail hour - you're going to have to skip the receivng line. By the time you get out of the church and to your hall and the photographer sets up and takes pics - it will be 1pm!

Re: receiving line
We are trying to get out of it as well--we are a little crunched for time as our ceremony is @ 10:00 and then have to get to the Planting Fields to take pictures and then to North Ritz Club by 1:00 p.m.--You can greet them @ the reception-why greet them twice-I know some people go to the church that aren't invited to the reception but tough luck! LOL Is it a good idea to maybe put a little 'blurb' on the bottom of the program or on the back saying 'Due to time contraints please greet the bride & groom @ the reception hall' or is that rude
