Re: Receiving Line
I'm doing one w/ bride, groom and parents only. Then we'll go outside and take group pics on the steps of the church.
We also have a huge gap in time between the ceremony and the reception, so this will eat time!!
If there isn't one, sometimes people get confused and expect you to come outside so they can like cheer afterwards.

Re: Receiving Line
We are going to do one because we have enough time for it and then you dont have to spend as much time during the reception do it.

Re: Receiving Line
yeah the reason to do one i have heard is so you dont feel like you have to go table to table to talk to your guests during the reception.

Re: Receiving Line
We have time SO we will have one I think both our moms would be upset I'd we did not, and then I can see who actually came out to the church

Re: Receiving Line
Okay, I'm a little slow Is a receiving line when you walk back into the church and all the guest come around to greet you or is it when you walk out as bride and groom and people blow bubbles/throw rice/throw petals?

Re: Receiving Line
Oh okay-
In that case, I don't think we'll be doing that because we have too many guests and too little time to take pics before our reception...

Re: Receiving Line
we did not do one because they asked us about it at the last minute and its the one thing we did not think of!! instead we went around to each table looking back maybe we should have done one?

Re: Receiving Line
i hate waiting on people's receiving line. it's also kind of forced bc you have a million people waiting behind you so you just say 'yay you look great congrats' and that's it. no real conversation.

We are because it's really special to me if people come out on a Friday to see us married at our ceremony so I'd like to greet them and personally thank them for sharing in the most important part of the day.
I agree 100%. Our wedding is on a Friday too so if people make it a point to be at the church, I want to personally thank them and let them know how much it means to both FH and I.

Re: Receiving Line
I'm unsure also - we don't have a lot of time between the Church and the CH...but at the same time, I feel like its a nice thing to thank and greet the people who arent invited to the reception that come to the ceremony.

Re: Receiving Line
My mom was the same way! After we get married our guests go right into cocktail hour so all of the parents can great guests after the ceremony or before during the hospitality hour

Re: Receiving Line
I am doing this because there are many people who will be coming to the wedding and not the reception.
