Six weeks ago we went to Windows on the Lake, Lake Ronkonkoma, to take a look at their site for our reception. We decided that we liked it and we put a small deposit down to hold the date. My fiance is in the NYS Trooper Academy so he is in Albany Mon-Fri. Three weeks later, I called to set an appointment to sign the contract and put more money down. They checked the date and said,"No problem, it is still available," and the appointment was set. The day came to sign papers and we went there(30 minutes from our home). When we got there, we were told that by accident, someone gave away our date. Instead of telling the other couple that we had a hold on the date first, they told us that we had to change our date! Can you believe the nerve that they have? Anyway, I wanted to let you all know what kind of a place it really is.

I was REALLY hoping for that date...but we loved John Anthony's so much that we took a later one. I hope whoever takes it finds out how beautiful the place really is!!!

I had my wedding booked there first and cancelled because I heard some bad stuff about the place. There is another girl I know who also had her date given away.

I don't have any experience dealing with them, but it seems that there have been a lot of disappointed brides.

It is worth a look at.

I went there myself and thought the place was nice until I heard that they mistakenly give dates away even though people put money down to hold the date! I hope you didn't change your date and book with them anyway. They gave away your date with a hold on it, imagine what other mistakes they will make. They don't seem very reliable to me. Good Luck!!

We are also going to Sandals Antigua, in 5 weeks. Do you have any advice, to-do's, not-to- do's?

Another recent one...I am addressing our invitations(Which we need to do this wkend) and I look at the reply card and everything written on there is written twice in 2 diff fonts!

The same exact thing happend to me at Windows on the Lake!!!! We were planning long distance so we gave them a small deposit to hold the date while we made sure we wanted to book with them. We called back a week later to book. Gave them a much larger deposit and set an appointment to sign the contracts. We went in July signed the contract and started lining up our other vendors thought that package deal windows had. When we called to ask them a question they said that they were glad we called because they double booked our date and we were out of luck. They were extremely rude to us both Frank the manager and even the owner. We even had a hard time getting our deposit back because they said we cancelled rather than picking another date with them if you could believe that. I would definately stay away from them and tell anyone who asks the same thing. I'm so sorry that it happened to you also. We ended up going to book at the Swan Club the next day and have been extremely happy with our choice. I have heard other horror stories about the poor service and attitudes of people who have already had their weddings there so you are better off going somewhere else where these types of mistakes don't happen all the time. YIKES!! How horrible for you and the others that had problems with this place. That it totally ridiculous. It's obvioulsy a pratice that is part of their regular routine. No class at all. I hope you don't change the date. Get whatever money you left with them back and take you business elsewhere where it will be respected and appreciated. That place is a joke. THere has to be a way they can be stopped so no one else has to go throught this.

I am having my wedding and reception at The Beach Club which is affiliated with Windows on the Lake. I am amazed at the stories I have heard. All of my dealings with Frank have been wonderful and I have had all my questions answered promptly. I too gave a small deposit to hold my date and I was told at that time that it would be held for 7 days only. I made sure that I was there within the 7 days to sign the contract because the price was great and The Beach Club had what I wanted. I know 2 people who were married at Windows recently and they both had nothing but great things to say about the service, the food and everyone they dealt with there. Here's hoping mine is that way too.
