Reception colors...

I'm not sure what to do with the tablecloth colors??? I'm going to have a colored tablecloth underneath a smaller white tablecloth. My BM's are wearing a Victorian Lilac color, my FI, me and the ring bearer have silver/platinum in our outfits, so we are incorporating that into our color scheme, and the centerpieces are going to be a dozen lavendar roses with touches of babys breath, and lavendar rose petals on the tables. What I don't know, is what color to make the tablecloths? I would like to alternate the colors with every table. Like, a lavendar tablecloth with the smaller white one on top of that, and then lavendar napkins for half the tables, and then a gray tablecloth underneath a smaller white one, with gray napkins on top for the other half of the tables. I would alternate them of course. What do you think??? Will it look stupid? Thanks!

Re: Reception colors...

IMO -- All of those colors might be a little too much. Don't forget to bear in mind that besides the tablecloths, you've got the colors of the walls & floor of your reception site too.

The best thing to do is see if you can stop by the reception site and have them make up four or so tables in the alternating color scheme and see if you like it.

If you decide on one color though, personally I'd go with the grey tablecloths/napkins, because then your flowers would really 'pop.'

Re: Reception colors...

I agree. You do not need to use colored table clothes just because your girls are wearing a certain color. My lines are a textured linen color and fit the room beautiful. The flowers will catch your eye, not the tablecloth.

Re: Reception colors...

Also see if the hall is going to charge you for the linens. Most don't, but if you're using a few colors they might.

Re: Reception colors...

I am going with ivory and white linens, because I felt that, IMHO, too many colors make it look like you're at a sweet sixteen. You want it to look elegant and classy! But that's just me. Good luck Melissa....our weddings are SOON!!!!!

Re: Reception colors...

I agree with the other girls, I did not want to match the tablecloths to the girls dresses because 1) that isn't the easiest thing to do and 2) that is too much color considering the room decor also. I went with a neutral white tablecloth (it may be ivory) with an ivory or white brocade top (it has some sparkle in it and is very elegant). I don't think you have to go that overboard and it is something not everyone will notice. Just my opinion...

Re: Reception colors...

i vote all white or ivory linens. I like the idea of the colors, bu I think it might take away from the formality of the affiar. Just my opinion. The flowers will look BEAUTIFUL on all white. (but I am a big all white fan. ALL My flowers are ivory and white ...) Good luck!
