Newly engaged! We are looking for a reception hall on Long Island on the water (preferably beach) for a decent-sized wedding (250 people). I've seen Bridgeview Yacht Club, the Riviera, Land's End and Danford on the Sound. Any thoughts, recommendations, suggestions, warning signs??? Thanks and congratulations to everyone!!!

You really can't go wrong with Land's End or the VYC... everyone on here has great things to say about both. You can also check out Chateau Le Mer and The Bayview House. There are a ton of places on the north shore, but being a south shore girl, i'm not too familiar with them. CONGRATULATIONS!! AND WELCOME!

Re: reception hall on the water
I'm not getting married at Lands End, but they company that owns them, Lovin Oven Caterers, owns my hall as well... they have a fantastic reputation and their food is AMAZING. I only had cocktail type stuff at a showcase, but it was absolutely mouth watering, and I know people who have gone to weddings at Lovin Oven places and said that it was incredible.

Try the Harbor Club in Huntington. I think their limit is 240 though...

Check out The Snapper Inn in Oakdale. We had our cocktail hour on the lawn right on the water. Then the reception was in their outdoor pavilion which is also right on the water. The food was FABULOUS too. I couldn't have asked for a better hall.

DEFINITLEY check out Venetian Yacht Club - it's in Babylon right on the water. It was my second choice - it's pretty, they just redid the whole thing and the food is VERY GOOD
