Are there any times that are off season that is not in the winter...my friend told me that some place have off season in the summer for example. Any ideas on who?

November weddings are a little cheaper than the summer weddings. Also april might be a good month. it seems the most expensive time to get married is anywhere from may till oct.

1) From your experience in hunting for reception halls what places quoted you from $40 -$65 per person?

Swan Club, Meadow Club and Riviera. Swan Club had lowest quote of the three.

Villa lombardis will give you 65 per head if you book 6 months before. You can get this price for a sat night if they have it open.

Re: reception hall prices - long

Do you really think you can get a good deal if you book only 6 months ahead in most of the halls?
I am thinking of halls like:
Vanderbilt
Flowerfields
Lands End
For a Sept or Oct '06 wedding?????
I liked all 3 but got 135 ++ pp on a Sat night and just cant do it!
What do you think? Has anyone ever done that?

Re: reception hall prices - long

I think the later you book the better chance you have of getting a better price but you have to be flexible with your dates. If they dont book you who are they going to book? Most likely theyd lose some $, so you can talk them down then.

Re: reception hall prices - long

I also forgot to add Milleridge Inn - the Inn itself. THe party is 4 hrs, not 5,and its not on the water, but in the good weather we were quoted around $55 for a sunday afternoon, and the ceremony can be outside on their patio...

Vanderbilt quoted me 85 for a sunday in Feb....which is great compared to their regular price. So yes I think its possible....good luck and let me know what happens and I'll keep you posted regarding myself.

Re: reception hall prices - long

Thanks Chas.
Yeah, I am pretty flexible with the date-I would like anytime in late September or October. I think if I wait a few months maybe I can get a better deal!

BTW-I love Vanderbilt! Stay in touch.

I'm a huge fan of the Stewart Manor Country Club. They were extremely nice and the place is sooooo perfect for a low-key wedding.

Here's a couple pics from their site:

Did you book w/ SMCC? Any info on them? The Good Bad & the Ugle, I'm looking to book with them any information would help me alot!

Thanks

Re: reception hall prices - long

Check out the Riviera in Massapequa. My price per person is within your budget for a Sat. night in January. I don't know what their summer prices are, but since you are flexible on the day of the week, I bet they would work with you. It is right on the water (Great South Bay) and you can have an outdoor ceremony there. The grounds are beautiful. I've been there during an outdoor ceremony and it was beautiful.

Re: reception hall prices - long

Instead of doing a 'dinner' would you consider doing a breakfast/brunch meal? That is what we did and the highest per person price we were quoted was $45. Chateau La Mer does one with a 'cocktail hour' as well.

BTW, I booked Snapper Inn six months ahead of my wedding day.
