Anybody know of any reception halls that are around or under $60 a person? And has anybody been to, or had a reception bbq instead of at a hall?
My fh and I decided to take our bridal party to Vegas for 4 days and we're going to get married over there. When we come back, we're going to have a reception for all of the guests who couldn't make it out to vegas. Since my FH and I are paying for everything ourselves, we are trying to keep it under $10,000 {everything included}. My parent's suggested having a reception in their backyard. While they do have the means to hold around 100 people and have space for a DJ, caterers, dance floor, and a bar I think it's sort of tacky for a wedding reception. Plus, the whole parking situation. Having around 50 or so cars on my block isn't going to work.... any ideas???

Stuart Thomas Manor in Farmingdale might be in that range.
You could also consider an American Legion or K of C hall - - Oceanside and Seaford are supposed to be nice. and should be less than 60 also.

Re: Reception Halls for a small budget
try west sayville country club, i'm getting married in july of this year and we are paying more than that, but on a saturday night...if you do a sunday day wedding i bet it would be less, also depending on the month, it could be less also.
one of my friend's sisters is getting married at the timberpoint country club, which is really pretty as well and i think their prices are lower, and they are really negotiable from what i've heard.
good luck!

Riccardo's in Astoria?
I think a backyard style reception sounds GREAT and so, so different. Hire some valet and call it a day!

The Thatched Cottage in Centerport had a deal for $10K for January and February weddings of this year. Not sure if they'll have it next year or the year after, but it 's definitely worth inquiring. I believe it included everything (including a DJ, cake, etc.)

Don't know how soon you're looking to get married but my old room at Coral House has a 100 min and they have an opening for 1010.10 (my old date).

Halls I've been to for around that price: Manor East in Massapequa (website not working) the coral house (our 2nd choice- kinda wish we booked them) Brentwood Country Club (can't find website) Verdi's of Westbury (my hall- and they re-did their website- FINALLY) the sterling galaxie caterers I know there were others... but my co-worker is driving me insane.

Re: Reception Halls for a small budget
my hall, the meadow club, can def set up a menu with you for that price per person...also i would recommend three village inn in stony brook....i know they can form a menu for you for that price as well.
backyard bbq is NOT tacky at all when done right. though you will have to bear in mind that you would need to rent a nice tent, dancefloor, linens for the tables, centerpieces etc and that could go waaaay over $10,000 to make it more 'wedding like'. Look at some pics though, you might be able to draw something up that is in your price range.
I also wanted to mention that I get Brides magazine and in the January issue (i believe it was Jan) they re-vamped a knights of columbus or vfw hall and made it waaay chic for not that much money and you could get a caterer to come in for food. Another option that when a creative mind plans, can be something very beautiful and different.

Hi.
First off, backyard weddings are NOT tacky and you might offend people that are doing them.
Second, try Brentwood Country Club for their all inclusive package.

Definitely Riccardo's in Astoria. You would have wonderful locations for pictures nearby.
I had my shower and rehearsal dinner there.....and have been to a few baby showers. The food is good, we paid about $25pp with tax and tip (mimosas). Definitely a great option.
