Reception location question...

I'm not sure what we're doing yet, but does anyone have any suggestions for recpetion locations that have a 75 person minimum, and maybe cheaper than $75.00pp??? Or anything close to that? We have our heart set on the Port Jefferson Country Club, but if we can't afford it, we can't afford it. It felt good when my fiance said last night that if we can find somewhere we can afford, we could get married earlier than August! :) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Preferably in Suffolk County, but Nassau County is great too. Just not towards the city. It'll definitely get expensive going out there. Thanks again, you girls have made me feel so much better, and have been such help! Good luck to everyone!!!

Swan club (roslyn)is BEAUTIFUL and about 55-60pp in the afternoon (sat and sun) not sure about friday night. I think crest hollow is in the upper 60s Im not sure but I think captain bills and stewart manor are less and also the douglaston manor (in bayside queens) If you can get a copy of LI weddings of distinction (????) they have price guides. (i know Newsday will send you one for $4) I even remember seeing prices in the 40s!! best of luck

Reception location question...

Try Brentwood Counrty Club. I looked there when I was shopping for a hall. The grounds were nice, only one affair at a time, and the price was fairly inexpensive. They run an all inclusive deal, so that might help to keep the cost down. The minimum may be slightly higher, but I`m not sure. Check it out, you may like it. Another place I checked out that was inexpensive was The Coral House, I didn`t like it as much, because there was a lot going on at one time, but the price was good. One drawback is that it may be too far west for your liking. Hope this helps... :) Amy

Reception location question...

This is not a traditional wedding reception site but you might want to take a look at PaPa Joes in Commack. They have a nice size room, nicely decorated that I think holds 100 max. So he must have a lower minimum. We had our rehearsal dinner there in the smaller room the food and service were great. Good Luck

Irish Coffee Pub / La Grange Inn (Long)

We had our rehearsal dinner at Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip on Carleton Avenue. They do weddings there, and also have a regular dining room. They have lots of different rooms that hold various sizes, I believe up to 200. Our rehearsal had just 18 people, and they were able to make accomodations for us to have a private room on a Friday night, althought I did initially have some trouble. If you do call them, speak to the banquet manager. I believe his name is Fred. He was so amazingly helpful, and made it seem like what I wanted was absolutely no problem for them. The food and service was great, and we were so happy I persisted in trying to book the place instead of giving up based on the initial phone conversation I had with some woman who didn`t seem to want our business, even when we offered to pay a minimum of 25, no matter what happened with our guest list, just so we could keep the room private. Turned out the banquet manager gave us the room private with a minimum of 18, which worked out perfectly. Anyway, I would highly recommend looking into them. If I recall correctly, it was about $27 per plate, not including drinks. Cake was included as a dessert option, and we had several courses .. appetizer, salad, dinner, and dessert. Maybe to keep costs down, you could go with a sit down dinner style menu for your wedding instead of the full-blown wedding type menu. The courses are plentiful, so if you made a choice to skip having a cocktail hour to cut costs, believe me, no one is going to go home hungry. You can take a look at the place without even making the trip to them. They offer a virtual tour on their website of their rooms. That`s how I found the room I wanted for our rehearsal dinner. I thought it was so charming. We had the Dublin Court. One other place that might work for you is La Grange Inn, in West Islip on the corner of Montauk Hwy and Higbee Lane. My bridal shower was held there. It`s a nice place, and I think they have different rooms for various size groups, as well as having a regular dining area. I`m not sure of the cost, but you could call and talk to someone. I wish I had more to tell you about the place, but I really don`t know the inside scoop on them, since it was a 'surprise.' But, the food and service were good. The good thing about both places, is that they have a regular dining area. You could go out to brunch or something, just to check them out before actually talking with someone. When we were in the process of considering Irish Coffee Pub, we went for an early dinner with my parents, then signed on the contract after being more than satisfied with what we experienced. Plus, look at it this way, if you do go with a place like either of these, or Papa Joe`s on Commack Road in Deer Park, you would always be able to go back and dine again at the place you had your reception. That`s one thing I`m sad about. We can`t go back to John Anthony`s for a special dinner. One other suggestion .. if you are considering moving up the date of your wedding, see if any of the places you`re considering are flexible with their pricing based on the time of year. I don`t know by how much you were looking to move up the date, but if you went with something like February or March, you might be able to get cheaper prices than something like May or June. http://www.irishcoffeepub.com http://www.lagrangeinn.com Good Luck!!

Scotto brothers?

What about any of the Scotto brothers` places? Westbury Manor, Watermill (Smithtown)? They probably vary in price, but I know they`re a lot cheaper on a holiday weekend, and they go a great job!

Reception location question...

I was looking into Ariana Waterfalls that coats $45 per person under 50 people. 75 and up $39 per person. I most likely will be having my wedding at the Wyndham hotel at $53 per person. It included an overnight suite for bride and gorrm, cake, and a few others. If you call them, talk to Laura, she will talk to you over the phone and is a great help, even with a smaller wedding. I found because I had under a 100 guests, no one wanted to talk over the phone, but Laura talked to me for about 20 min. She will also work with you on prices. We cut a few things out to save money... If you want further info, you can email me at [email protected]

Melissa.....

Fear not, if you need to switch locations, you can find something for less money!! Our reception is at Eastwind (Country Gardens). It's in Wading River, sonot too far from PJCC (which was one of our choices!!!). But Eastind was more reasonable... fr July 4th, 2002 (a Thursday), we got their Premier Sit down dinner for $55 ($20 less then PJCC) $70 TOTAL PER PERSON! But how much $ are you into PJCC for already? Is it worth it to switch?

John Anthony`s .. loved it, but...

priceswise, by the time you figure in tax and gratuities, it`s not as inexpensive as some of the other places already mentioned. I loved the place, and am glad my wedding was there, but by the time everything was added in, I think the per plate cost averaged about $86, and that was for a Sunday night in September. You definitely get a lot for the money, but there are cheaper alternatives. Also, with regard to minimums, I`m not sure about the downstairs room, but the upstairs for us was 100. The downstairs room is a little smaller, so maybe the minimum is less for that room. They do have a lounge, and we were told when we booked with them, there was slight chance there could be a third function the night of our wedding, using that room after our cocktail hour finished in there. That didn`t happened, but the lounge is on the smaller side, so maybe they could work something out using that room. The only thing, there is no dance floor.

Smithown Landing Country Club (Lessing's Catering)

We had our wedding there in September. They have three rooms for different size parties. The room we had for our cocktail hour might be good for about 75 people. The service was great -- the food was fabulous. We were very happy. It''''s at the Smithtown Landing Golf Course. We had the Nissequogue Room for our cocktail hour. I really loved that room. It has a deck off of it too. Depending on the time of year you can see the Nissequouge River. They were $62 pp for our Sat. night wedding, including cocktail hour, reception, linens, centerpieces and cake.

Reception location question...

My FI and I are getting married at the WaterMill in Smithtown. They do more than 1 party at a time but the only time you notice it is when you go the bathroom (I visited them while they had a prom and 2 other events happening). We are paying 61pp for a 50 person min.wedding in November of 2002 all inclusive from open bar to center pieces, cake, and formal sit down dinner. They have rooms w/ a 75 person and 150 person min. They are all very elegant. They also have an elevator. Which was important for us because my great grandmother is 96 and she has trouble walking up and down stairs, since the ceremony is held downstairs and the reception is on the 1st floor.

MELISSA- Reception location question...(LONG)

MELISSA...you sound like you are in the same situation as me. I have 75 ppl and want to keep it as far under 75/head as possible. I just do not want to spend thousands on a wedding when I have a big house and kids to look forward to. The less we spend the faster we get to the other things. So far, I've looked into EVERYTHING imaginable at this point and have not found our solution. The next thing we are going to look into is getting married in a church on a weekend and then perhaps taking a limo into NYC for a carriage ride in central park. Then go straight to the airport on our honeymoon. As far as reception goes, so long as its not labeled a 'wedding', the price is about 1/2. I planned holiday party for work at one of the LESSINGS locations where they do weddings...its $32 PER PERSON for a FRIDAY night! (Full five course meal but Does not include open bar). So for the 'reception' we are looking into a sit down dinner perhaps the weekend before the wedding? Or the night before? We are going to explore our options. I dont know if this information will help you, I hope it does. I want the traditional princess wedding, just like we all do, but I think in the end its not worth the cost. I have talked to many many people who say its really not worth it. Its a five hour memory. If I had the money to spend, I would definately do it, but since I am shelling it out, I'd rather have a beautiful house. Something I can look at everyday as opposed to a memory. I'll keep you updated!

A wonderful suggestion..

We were married in September and had 75 people. We got married at the Beach Club in Lake Ronkonkoma and paid 52.00 per person which included cocktail hour w/pasta station and a sit down dinner, all linens, place cards, cake etc. The grounds are beautiful and we were married in the gazebo right on the water. Our cocktail hour was outside and the dinner inside and the room is a very comfortable fit with 75 people (you don't feel lost in the room). We were married on a Sunday afternoon, which is less expensive, but everyone raved about everything and I could not have been happier. If you would like some pictures I would be more than happy to scan some and send them to you so you can get an idea of what it looks like. The Beach Club is owned by the same people who own Windows on the Lake. There is only 1 wedding at a time so you get all the attention and believe me it is done right. My brother, who is an executive chef at a 5 star restaurant in Boston, could not get over how fantastic the food was. He even called me when he got home to tell me that he was amazed that wedding food could be so well done!!! Best of luck!

Try Meadow Club

You should try Meadow Club in Port Jefferson. It is very nice. Also consider hosting a brunch instead of an evening wedding. Most places do that much cheaper. You might be able to speak to Port Jeff CC and ask about it. Sundays are also cheaper. I know that you having making a lot of difficult decisions right now. I hope that we are all helping. Keep the Faith, it will all work out!!!

Windows on the Lake in Ronkokoma. I am almost postive that they do a 100 person wedding with everything included (similiar to a Wedding Center) for under $10K. I might be a bit off on the price but I know that you get your photographer, video, tux, limos, DJ, full sit down dinner, open bar, cocktail hour etc.. all included in one price. Cannot hurt to ask.

Try Meadow Club

The Meadow Club is a great idea! I was originally booked there but we changed our minds because it was so far from where we live. But we booked a Saturday night wedding for $66. They have three packages and that was for the middle one. The lower one, and I mean price, not quality was probably a few dollars less. They have beautiful property and can accomadate various party sizes and ceremonies.
