I am new to this website and I really could use advice on locations for my wedding. I just got engaged on 11/27/04 and it looks like we may be planning an October 2005 or November 2005 wedding. The 6 places that I was considering are Lombardi's on the Sound, Miller Place Inn, Villa Lombardi, East Wind, Flowerfield and Lands End. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I also must mention that my FH and I are paying for most of the wedding so I am looking for something reasonable.

Welcome and Congrats!
I've heard nothing but good things about all the places you mentioned. All I can tell you is that I know there is a pretty big price difference between some of those so how much are you looking to spend?

Re: Reception locations
My parents are giving us about 10,000 but I heard the average is about 15,000.

Hi, I'm new too! Congrats on the !
A friend of mine, not on here, recommended THIS SITE to me. It lists reception ares by region if you use the pulldown menu on the top right of the page. It gives a general price range, sample menu, all kinds of useful stuff. However, I haven't checked into how often the info is updated. Good luck and happy planning!

Welcome and congrats!
When you are looking ask for off-season pricing, you might see a big price difference...for some halls, November starts the 'off season.' October is still prime wedding time nowadays. I know Flowerfield and Lands End can get pricey, esp if you want a Saturday night. I've been to weddings at Villa Lombardi and East Wind and both were great, the food especially.

Hi everyone,
I am new to this website and I really could use advice on locations for my wedding. I just got engaged on 11/27/04 and it looks like we may be planning an October 2005 or November 2005 wedding. Congrats!!!
I have only been to one of the places you mentioned.
Villa Lombardis gave us a quote for September 05 Friday afternoon $74.95pp Plus 18% plus tax with a 75 minimum guests count
Sunday afternoon 74.95 min 75
Thursday night 74.95 min 75
Sat night is 114.95 min 200
Sat aft is 89.95 min 100
Fri night 89.95 min 150
Sun night is 79.95 120 min
Assuming the lowest minimum of 75 people at the lowest price of $74.95 (or lower if your negotiating skills are better than mine) you will pay about $7215 for a reception at Villa Lombardi's for September 2005. That is with 18% and 8.75% tax but no other vendors such as flowers, photo, video, limos, or any wedding attire such as your dress, shoes, veil, undergarments etc.

Re: Reception locations
That's a pretty good mix-up of places to consider....all beautiful. Flowerfields-it's absolutely lovely, food is great...it was a little on the expensive side. Land's End-on the water in Sayville, right? I've never been there, but it looked great from the web. Miller Place Inn-??? East Wind-my FH sister got married there a few years ago, and his brother just got married there last August. Great food, the Inn really makes it easy, especially since it's off the beaten track. There are three different buildings, it very impressive driving up to....I didn't love the fact that there was more than one wedding going on at a time. Villa Lombardis/Lombardis on the Sound-never been to Lombardis on the Sound-but I have been to Villa Lombardis--the food is kick @ss, and plentiful, and the service is awesome. The decor of Villa Lombardis is different from what you usually see, alot of marble and gold, and the fountains in the front....it stands out-I LOVED it, my mother and my sister thought it was a little gaudy(they were a in love with Flowerfields, thought it was really elegant-to give you a frame of reference). The not so great stuff: more than one wedding at a time....a large party minimum for a saturday night, and alot of restrictions on vendors, and ceremony related stuff (what can be tossed-no rice, no rose petals). The price was great, and the food was great.
Hope this helps......check out Gurney's...

Congrats & Welcome!!
Out of the places you mentioned, I have been to weddings at Villa Lombardi's, Flowerfield's and Land's End...all great choices!
Villa's - loved that there was soooo much food, but they do have more than 1 wedding at a time, and have to share the bathroom....
Flowerfield's - gorgeous grounds, great food and service.....can be pricey from what I understand. Also, quite far out if coming from Nassau.
Land's End - beautiful, on the water, food was great...can also be pricey from what I hear.

Re: Reception locations
Great choices! We checked out Land's End and loved it, but it was too pricey for us. I believe it was $150 pp for a Friday night, and like $165 pp for a Sat. night.
I've been to a couple of weddings at Flowerfields...its a wonderful place but also kind of pricey.
I've also been to weddings at Villa Lombardi's and East Wind and both were lovely, although I'm not familiar with pricing for either.
Congrats and best of luck!

Re: Reception locations
Yes good choices! How many guests are you planning on? What time of day and day of week? This all changes cost tremendously, but November is less expensive so that's a plus.
I haven't been to a wedding at any of these, but I checked out these 3 for my wedding...
Lands End - pricey but affordable if not Saturday night. They have a Sunday twilight where you're the only wedding that day and you can start any time you want (get a little daylight since it's on the water and gets dark at 4:30ish in Nov.) You'll be in the low $100's per head if not saturday night. Otherwise you're looking at $130 or so. This great compared to in-season costs.
Flowerfields - it's out in St. James so a little far (depends where u live), very pretty, but pricey as well - even more than Lands End.
East Wind - MUCH more affordable, very pretty - but you probably won't have pick of the room you want at this point. Definitely look at all 3 (or 4?) ball rooms because they're all different. It's in a VERY remote area and a long drive, so depends if this bothers you or not. GORGEOUS to drive up to.
I haven't seen the other 3 places - sorry!! good luck!

Re: Reception locations
If you don't mind going out east, definitely check out Giorgio's as well. Cost on saturday night in november was $100/person - great food, beautiful room, photos by the water, on a golf course, etc. It's just in the boonies..can't hur to take a look!

Re: Reception locations
All great choices!!!! Flowerfield is beautiful and our wedding was perfect. November can be cheaper depending on where you look. Some places it is the off-season and some it is not. Flowerfield was not cheaper for us because it was the beginning of November.
Land's End is also so beautiful!!!
ETA: Our reception alone cost about $50,000 with 250 people. If that helps any

Re: Reception locations
I've been to the Miller Place Inn twice for weddings and loved it, loved it, loved it! The food was wonderful, the grounds are very pretty, and the hall itself is stunning.
I would've booked my wedding there, but FI insisted it was too far of a drive (we live in Brooklyn).
Hi..I am having my reception at the Estate at EastWind...It is breathtaking there!!!! I am getting married Friday November 25, 2005 and my reception is from 1-6 in the afternoon and no other hall could beat the price and it looks like you are spending alot more than you really are!!! The amount of food is incredible and I wanted to get married the day after Thanksgiving because the hall is decorated for the holidays and it is like walking into a fairy tale!!! FM me if you want more info on what I am paying or anything else...P.S. I just went to a wedding there over the weekend and the food and service were awesome!!!!

Re: Reception locations
Just to add to this quote- Villa Lombardi's and Lombardi's on the Sound have completely different decors. We had our wedding at Lombardi's on the Sound (sight unseen) and were very happy that the country club feel they promised and delivered.
