Reception Place Ideas

Reception Place Ideas

Hi. My FI and I have after much debate and back and forth, decided to heck with everyone else, we are having the wedding we want. Because of this we are paying for it ourselves and are on a tight budget.

I have looked all the popular places (like Fox Hollow, Russo's, Coral House, Swan Club, Jericho Terrace) but i would like ideas of other places that are not so, so popular. We are looking for off months and for no more than 135 people. Our Church is located in Queens off of Woodhaven Blvd or anywhere with 45 minutes would be great.

And including tas and gratuity it would have to be under $100 per person.

Thanks.

I heard they were just closing the location in January 2010 and moving to a larger area to expand.

If you're open to being untraditional the Queens County Farm is really neat. It's awesome if you want to go for an antique rustic feel...if i would've known about the place, i totally would've gone with it. it would be something really cool & different for a fall wedding

It depends on how flexible you are...if you really are on a tight budget and want to save money..you can have a THursday night wedding like we did..then it didnt matter what time of year you had your wedding (ours is in june). In addition, most of the places quoted anywhere from 55-75 a head for Thursday night wedding (not including tax and gratuity).

If you need anymore info just FM me.

Definitely check Crest Hollow Country Club - it's beautiful and very reasonable for a Friday night (or Sunday). Mitch is awesome. They're about $85 - $90 pp before tax and tip for a Friday in Sept./Oct.

Also, Chateau La Mer and Chateau Briand are very reasonable and willing to work with you. They quoted us slightly less than CH.

If you're flexible on the day of the week and season you can also get a good price from Fox Hollow.

Good Luck!

Douglaston Manor is in Queens, overlooking a golf course and you can see the NYC skyline. Its more like an old-fashioned spanish style mansion, but its completey renovated.

It's also very affordable. They offer a complete package, or you can just pay per person.

I would say that as well..

You sound like you are looking for something other than a traditional catering hall.

The DeCeversky Center
Cavo in Astoria
The Roslyn Claremont Hotel
The Metropolitan Buidling in LIC

The Hamlet is really nice in Commack. The Hamlet Mt Siani is below your p/r. but it's longer then 45 min. It may be worth it to check it out anyway.

You should definitely check out the Metropolitan in Glen Cove. They have great prices and are known for amazing food. Only one event at a time too which is nice. If we were doing a Fall or Winter wedding, we were going to choose them. Ended up not choosing them because we went with a summer wedding and wanted more outdoor space. They quoted Fri and Sat under $100 in June 2009 to me.
