Ours is a Saturday night. Cocktail hour is at 8 and the reception starts at 9. A little later than I wanted, but Fox Hollow would not budge. I'm assuming they stagger their times so that everyone is not arriving at the same time.

I'm on a Friday night, Ceremony is at 7:30pm, cocktail hour starts at 8pm and Reception is at 9, over by 1am. I don't think beginning at 8:30 is too late. My friend is having a day time church ceremony and not starting her reception until 9:30pm. That's going to be a looong day!

Our wedding reception started at 8:30 and it ended 1:30, it wasn't too late...it gave our guests enough time to beat the Friday night rush hour.

We are getting married on a Friday, I wish I would've started 30mins later. Our hospitality hour is 530-630, ceremony is 630-700, cocktail hour 700-800 reception is 800-100. I ordered my invited without thinking it thru, hopefully ppl are able to make the ceremony. We kind of tricked ppl and have 530 on the ceremony, but there will be an open bar, champAign, and passed hor devours for an hour before.

Re: Reception times
I think 8:30-9pm is pretty normal for a Friday night reception start.

Our church cermeony will start at 5 and our CH starts a 7. IMHO, I feel like having a reception start at 9 wont have people eating dinner until around 10 & I couldn't do that to my grandparents and aunts and uncles.

Sat wedding....church at 3pm....Cocktail hour from 7:30-9....reception 9-1We have a big gap between church and cocktail hour but everything is in the same town so people can go home after church to hang out or go back to my parents house for food and hanging and to get changed.
