Looking to open a credit card where you accumulate miles for air travel, and not one that you need to charge a house in order to ever see a benefit

Look into the American Express program. With their points you can accumulate and then use them with several different partner airlines - better than being locked into one airline.

I use AMEX blue and there is no fee.

I paid for my roundtrip honeymoon to Hawaii with Miles. That was on DH's United AMEX. Now we're going round trip to Italy and France on miles for our 2 year anniversary. That's on my DELTA AMEX. Now I'm going to get a Southwest card bc my parents live in FL and I'm always taking SW. I should consider getting the AMEX where you can choose the airline you use, but the interest rates are higher and I think you have to pay your bills in full. My Delta card is great ... double miles on everything and 10,000 mile sign on bonus. It makes spending more fun!

Which Delta AMEX gives you double on everything? I thought it is only groceries, drugstores & gas?

I guess I exaggerated....but that's what I use my card for ....

They do have specials on other things from time to time though.....
