recommended books (I know this has been done 34983408 times)

Original post by MikeandJess

I'm finally finishing up my semester tomorrow and I'm going to have some free time to read about something other than psychopathic murderers. Can you girls recommend something light/funny?

i read something blue and something borrowed by emily griffin (maybe griffith) earlier this year, and they were both really good. she has a third book, baby proof that's also out, but i haven't read that one yet.

I was just going to recommend those. Very good.

the J.A.P. Chronicles is sooo funny!!!

and there is a whole series called Something Old, the next is Something New, the next is Something Borrowed, and then Something Blue

Its about a woman who is a BM for her best friend and then she ends up hooking up with the groom- then then next book is them getting married, then her having a baby- they are really light and fun

and I just finished- EAT PRAY LOVE____ OMG you have to read! it changes your whole perspective on life!!

My fav book ever is Atonement - so excited to see the move.
Also try :
The Girls by Lori Lansens
On Beauty - Zadie Smith
Memory Keeper's Daughter - Kim Edwards
Three Junes by Julia Glass
Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen
Love in the Time of Cholera - it's Oprah's book this month...
Then We Came To The End - Joshua Ferris

I'm kind of an obsessive reader and I used to work in publishing - so I could go on forever

I loved something borrowed, and something blue. Baby Proof is on my christmas list.

Another good one I read over the summer is 'Knitting Under the Influence' but I don't know the author

All are quick reads (2-3 days depending on how fast you read and how much time you have on your hands), and are fun!

omg i love something borrowed and something blue...i also read baby proof but it wasnt nearly as good as the other two...its not a sequel to the other ones...it mentions a couple of simialar names though.. anyway i told so many people about it and they all loved it..they are fun easy read books....

HANDS DOWN

The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant
and
The Other Boleyn girl by phillippa gregory

most of the books in the boleyn series are great but first was my fav.

memoirs of a geisha book was soooo much better than the movie.

if you girls loved 'devil wears prada' i really recommend 'everyone worth knowing' same author and its real good.

And if anybody liked bergdorf blondes then definitely try divorce(sorry i dont have the accent mark lol) debutante, i couldn't believe how much i loved it...somebody recommened it to me on here and one day i bought it but i kept reading other books first and then finally i decided to see what it was about...i finished it so quickly too bc i stayed up so late one night to finish the book bc i had to know what happens.

I think I'll pick up the divorce debutante too, I'm a huge advocate of bergdorf blondes

I LOOOVED bergdorf blondes but i think i might like divorce debutantes a little bit more...btw did anyone else hear rumors about a bergdorf blondes movie? that would be great
