? regarding Tux/BM dress coordination (BM dress color is cranberry)

I've been thinking about tux colors and althought I haven't actually gone w/ my FH to the store yet I was thinking...do you need a swatch of you BM dress when you pick them out?

My BM's are wearing cranberry taffeta (shiny material) I don't want to pick out a 'close red'.
I've seen that done and I didn't like the way it looked.

Is it possible to get an exact match?
If not what are my options?
If anyone has pics of what they did - please post.

Since I'm doing autumn tones everywhere someone recommended doing gold on FH and silver on GM. Not sure - what do u think?

I don't know how to get it to match, but I think the idea of gold vests with the cranberry dresses is great. You could have the GMs in gold and your FH in white? We're having our GMs in silver, FH is in white and the girls are wearing pink irridescent taffeta and silver shoes.

My girls are wearing dark red dresses and FH wanted the GM to wear matching vests. We brought a swatch and I told him before we went there that if we couldn't match perfectly I was going to have them just get plain vests, but we found one that matched perfectly.

I think that it depends upon the fabric and the material. Also, I may be wrong, but I recall reading the David's bridal and After Hours formals were owned by the same company. Chances are they get their materials from the same vendor -- so if your BM dresses are from David's you might have a better chance at matching.

My girls are wearing cranberry also.

I didn't like the way that matching the guys vests to the girls dresses looks, so the guys are getting silver, FH is getting platnium (which is sort of a white-ish silver if that makes sense), and the dad's are getting charcoal.

I think grey is a wonderful option. Cranberry and grey look really good together.

My BM dresses are cranberry too. We haven't started looking at tuxes but when we do we'll probaly go with silver vests. I'm not that crazy about cranberry vests. Good luck
