Re: Registering
I'd start a registry as soon as you can. It doesn't need to be complete by any means, but that way its there for the friends/family who want it.

Re: Registering
It's up to you! You can hold off. As long as you register before the shower we're not supposed to know about!

Re: Registering
Are you having an engagement party? If so, my advise is to register before it. I didn't do that... thankfully my close family and friends knew us really well and got us things that we would have registered for.I registered about 7 months prior... that way it's out of the way and one less thing to worry about...

Re: Registering
I was wondering the same thing. some people told me not to register to early in case things get discontinued. I'm getting married 10/4. I was going to wait until the summer. Do you think that's too late?

Re: Registering
I started mine early and I regret it. Everything I registered for, whether recommended for a bridal registry or not was either discontinued, or I decided to change it because so much new stuff came out! I would wait until about 3 months before your bridal shower.

Re: Registering
We're getting married 10/25 and we registered early - about late May. The only problem is that a surprisingly amount of stuff does get discontinued. Both of the towel colors that we registered for have already been discontinued, along with a couple of pots and pans. Fortunoff's strongly discourages registering for bedding until 6 months before, as that stuff changes all the time.Good Luck!!!

Re: Registering
We registered early and I am glad we did, although we did not have an engagement party, MANY people have sent us engagement gifts.

Re: Registering
I'm not getting married until 6/04 but we registered last weekend because EVERYONE was harrassing us to do so... and it was the most fun!!! Then again, I've been looking forward to registering ever since I went to my first bridal shower!

Re: Registering
I'm glad I asked, because I would never have thought of items being discontinued!!! That is a great point...So i could probably wait till May....we aren't having an engagement party.
I would like to get the majority of the wedding planning done, so I can relax any enjoy me summer.

Re: Registering
We finally started registering about a month ago - and we still have a long ways to go. But, the person at Fortunoff's told us that you should wait till about 4-6 months before the wedding to register for stuff like towels and bedding because they might get discontinued and a lot of the stuff is seasonal.

Re: Registering
You may want to register for some engagement type gifts like vases, picture frames, toasting glasses, etc. just in case people want to buy you an engagement gift. That way you will get what you want instead of people deciding for you. Then a few months before the wedding you can register for the rest of the stuff. I couldn't believe how many engagement gifts we have gotten so far! We had to go back and re-register for more stuff twice. I'm not sure if there will be anything left for the shower because we are still getting stuff and we have been engaged for 4 months already!

Re: Registering
Tomorrow... I registered early. No harm- and it will allow people to get presents for you that you can enjoy slowly and at their convenience. JMO

Re: Registering
I've been engaged since August and i don't think we will get anymore engagement gifts. If we do get more engagement gifts, we will get them the weekend after christmas when my father hosts our family holiday party. I think I'm too late for that.I did get a beautiful table clothe from FMIL - Irish Linen. Absolutely gorgeous.

Re: Registering
I would start registering, but not for everything yet. Things tend to discontinue and you have to change them.
